So after coming into a good daily driver and wanting to move on my poor 914 project, I'm considering moving on from this car. No, I will not part it out except for the sub box and maybe air horn setup.
-Sporting the newish 16x8 Snowflakes
Recently rebuilt the bottom end with Forged Wiseco pistons, 9:1 CR + Mk4 HG, so compression is 9.x now.
The good:
-fast, powerful, fairly comfortable even for long haul drives. It's been to Northern CA and back quite a few times since '03 when I bought it.
-newish PT5862 billet wheeled turbo. VERY smooth, impressive spool
-42# C2 chip = good drivability and no CELs
-Snowflakes. Love these wheels. If they'd fit on either of my other cars I'd consider keeping them. BFG G-force sports with tons of life. Recent alignment.
-Mk 2 Recaros: hands down the best seats my seat has sat in. See long haul comment.
-air horns out of boat w/ brand new uninstalled Viair 380c.
-rebuilt trans, 02j gears, w/Peloquin LSD, brand new Southbend Stage II daily clutch with bottom end rebuild.
-bottom end rebuild done ~6-7k miles ago with many new parts, all receipts.
-custom stealth box style sub enclosure (thanks Darren!)
-Neuspeed Race springs, Koni Sports, adjustable dampening.
-pulled and rolled fenders = no rubbing. Ever.
-smooth Abt rep skirts, textured to match bumpers and moldings.
-has a custom, all metal heater core*
-setup has been set at 13psi daily, could probably fuel to ~20ish psi. (has Walbro 255)
-A/C is there and works well.
-Mk 4 look real Hellas w/ 4300k HID drop ins
-blue reverse LED gauges, blue LED switches
-35% nano film all around, clear nano on windshield.
The not so good:
clear coat issues. If I keep the car, it'll get resprayed.
3 window regulators are working to off themselves.
front seats could use reupholstering.
*custom all metal heater core not installed.
cruise control doesn't work (steady foot always worked fine for me).
scratch on window tint, driver front from window reg.
So I think that's about it. It's been a pretty good car for me all in all. Just time to move on.
