So in September I picked up a 2012 Candy White Highline(Canada) TDI, and for a while I thought that I will resist and keep it stock. What was I thinking

This is my second VW. My first car was a 2000 MKIV VR6. I did not have much money back than, so therefore the only thing I did to it is a BORA badge)

After the VR6 I wanted something with little more ponies, and I picked up my friend's E39 540I.

As I had enough power, the only thing I did to it, is cosmetics. I got the M bumpers, exhaust, 19" rims, and I did a full vinyl matte black wrap.

I loved the car and I would never sell it, however the age (it was almost 14 years old when I sold it) and V8's love for premium had me looking into more economical side. So that's the reason I picked up a TDI, otherwise I would go with GLI.

So this is my GRAND PLAN

      MECHANICALLY:

      ECU flash from Unitronic

      COSMETICALLY:

VW Kit - installed from the dealer
H&R Sport Spring - waiting out for shiny days
18" Rims (Black) - install with springs
      H&R Spacers
Paint OEM Rims black for winter mode
Full vinyl Matte Orange wrap from ReStyleIt.ca

Regarding the wrap - my first experience with the vinyl was with the Bimmer, the same guys did it, and I was pleased with their work. I had the wrap on the Bimmer for almost two years, and never had a problem with it.
After I got the Jetta, the first thing they did was tint the back and front lights, black roof and CF spoiler.

After a while I decided to go with full wrap and Orange and Black theme.
So Andrew (from ReStyleIt.ca) is going to de-chrome the whole car. Black out the chrome on windows, upper and lower grill, front and back badges.

I think it's going to turn out GOOOD. I will try to update with lots of pics.

      So here it goes...

I like the first pics in white with the black roof and spoiler best. The TDI already looks sweet in white, I wouldn't change it....but it's your car, I look forward to seeing the completed product anyway.----Mike

The paint is usually protected quite well when a vehicle is wrapped. It is completely reversible and should cause no damage to the factory paint, provided that the wrap is removed correctly.

I can't say I am a fan of the wrap so far but I await the finished product. Props for having the balls to do it in the first place

On another note can the votex body kit be installed at home or does it have to be done via the dealer? Basically is it complicated?

Wow, very interesting. Not to be judgmental as I understand the desire for a newer car, but one minute you're saying the 540i was using too much gas, the next minute you're slamming down 4 grand on a wrap.

Have fun with the orange Jetta, I guess haha.

I got it at the dealer, but I think it's doable at home. (it's easier if the car is raised)

First of all the wrap costs way less than 4 grand
Second, even with the wrap, to run a Jetta on monthly basis is way less than a Bimmer

It may not be appealing to everyone but:

      That job is top notch!
It will protect the paint big time
Personally don´t like the color but its not my car so....
