Thread: My new gti build thread

  1. 01-21-2012 10:51 AM #1
So i've been a honda kid since my second car(hence the name), first was a cadilac deville. my hondas been through alot, i had that dumb ricer stage highschool(all honda kids did) but it turned into respectable 4 door civic. But going through college close with darkstardub and gengstout kids I've been around vw's and this forum for a while now. mostly a lurker.
I've been going to vw shows on the east coast for 4 or 5 years now, most of the time i bring the honda and drive up with my friends.

Enough of the honda stuff, i feel no need to make a new name on here, as i currently still own the civic and its forsale though. But not to long ago, I found a 20th for sale, it had an R bumper, and a kami grill. Maybe some one on here will recognize it as some one they know's past car. After a while ofhaggling i got the dealer down to a reasonable price, with the help of my friends from gengstout, i think he's blubags on here, he helped my check everything for problems and take it for a test drive. In the end i purchased the car with its timing belt, breaks, some minor body work, and some new replaced parts for $8,400. But i got it with just a valley key, which was the worrssttttt.

i brought it home like this.

So of course i had to bring it over to darkstar and show it off some more.
where as it used to be like this when i went thre

    it was now LIKE THIS

So first things first gotta get rid of that grill.

scooped this blueish one up for $15

    painted and put on...

Then i had to get a gengstout sticker

A few more weeks of driving around this happened

    and then finaaalllyyy!!!!!!

Then i went to cali for 2 weeks and left her like this, i felt bad

luckily it got moved around while i was gone, and snowed on too, haha

Being around the gengstout kids im sure you can guess what happens next..

    up on fuzzy's lift. weeeeee

we start building things like this...

We decided to run airlift front bags, with airassisted rears, and accuair switchspeed for managment.
the plan was to place that small set up blubags whipped up under the rug in the trunk

had to change it around to this though, cuz the 7 port tank, doesnt fit down inside the mk4 sparetire hole

still not done with it all yet, but it's in and functional

    as she sits now.

now as my luck goes. while we were doing maddness on fuzzy's lift. we were talkinng about bluebags previuously broken arm, and fuzzys previously broken collar bone, and how i've never broken a bone... sure enough, i got snowboarding 3 days later, and shatter my collar bone.

with surgery yesterday , and me stuck in bed, my gti just sits.

hopefully more updates and pictures, as soon as i'm recovered from surgery

But shifting with my left hand across my stomach isn't something i wanna go out on the road and do, haha. I get my stiches out wednesday, if its nice i'll see if my dad will drive the gti to the hospital haha(he's scared of it, he wont)
