As the title states... I purchased my first 4x4 lastnight! I have always had to ride with my friends, in their trucks and couldn't pass up on this 1983 Pickup. I purchased it for $500. It runs and is registered non-op. (That will change next week) Obviously the tires are garbage, but motor/trans seem to be pretty solid. Now... it didn't come with a front drive shaft. Doh! I'm a little lost here and would love to hear some opinions/advise.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Just kinda where to get started, I guess. Any specific problems I should look out for? I'm in SoCal, so any locals who know cheap places to find odds and ends. etc.

replace the j-arm steering with crossover right away. bob the bed about 18in, 35's, twin cases..crawl box...5.29's with lockers... it's a downward spiral.

I'm thinking about bobbing the bed in a week or so. Question!!! Best place to find a used front drive shaft? I haven't combed the junkyards yet, I assume I could find one there, just haven't looked yet. Is there another vehicle that uses the same one?
