the foundation has not been back filled yet so the ground around it will come up quite a bit when it's done. The foundation was only dug down about a foot to make sure there is no issues with water in the future. So essentially the house is kinda elevated and the the ground will gradually slope away from it and blend into the yard when it's all done.

Aah that would make sense then. Hate to be the poor meter reader that had to read that meter if it was that high.

Is that the garage where the H/W and Furnace is? That will be nice with that all rocked up and painted a nice gloss white. You'll see just about everything in there. Looking good

that is indeed in the garage, in the space under the stairs that go to the bonus room. I didn't know they were gonna make it into a closet, but it's pretty nice cause it keeps the garage nice and clean looking

My gas, water and electricity are this way.

Nice job having the interior walls insulated/sound dampened!

Oh I know that been that way for a while now.
Still sometimes things fail on the meter and they have to manually read them from time to time.
Still I'm liking how the house is coming along. Must be getting antsy to start to move in?
Any money left for the garage cabinets and work benches?

probably once we get moved in I'll look into building some benches and shelving for storage. Probably won't get too carried away cause after we build the shop the garage will be just for parking cars and not working on them...

Ah good plan. Save up for the shop and get some nice shop cabinets and benches. Are you going to get a lift?
Wish I'd thought of that when I built my garage. 9' ceiling height is just not high enough for a nice two post lift.
When they took down the auto shop at the high school they auctioned off the 3 two post and one 4 post lifts they had. Killed me as the 2 post lifts went for about $350 to $400 and the 4 post went for $550. These were the heavy duty ones too 15' high vertical beams. Used a 14' ladder to disconnect them for the auction.

    Very nice man!

If you have extra time try to get the garage walls and floors painted because if you don't do it now it'll be 100x harder to do later! I wish I would of done my floors in the garage when I moved in because I can't even see them now! Haha!

What happened with all of that staining/rust on the outside of the house by the garage window?

My guess is its mud splash from before the gutters went on. Looking great James. Party at your place?

the stain is indeed rust from the well water. I guess they were flushing the system using a garden hose and stuck it down the drain tube over there and it backed up and shot all over the house The exterior paint covered it just fine, but hopefully the window frame comes clean cause it got all over that too

We had to make some compromises somewhere so by not spending the extra money on granite counter tops and tile flooring we are now able to buy all new couches/end tables, a california king bedroom set, kitchen table/barstools, a bbq, a riding lawnmower and just maybe a 70" tv and some patio speakers all in all not a bad tradeoff and leaves us room to upgrade the counters and floor down the road. Also we are leaving the bonus room unfinished for now to cut down on the overall cost of the house and it will give me a project to work on in the slow winter months.

And the housewarming party is gonna be a little tough due to my schedule. I'm hoping to be done with the turnaround at BP (60-84 hours a week) by the time we have to move, but then my sealcoat/line striping job will be picking up to 60-80 hours a week for the "dry" months.

Dang I hate when living priorities get in the way of the actual things we want.
Still the house is going to be nice.
Ouch on those BP turn arounds. I almost got wrangled into doing one once.
Made it about half way through the safety lecture and the part about having seconds to get your respirator on incase of a spill or something, sealed the deal it was not for me.
That and the drive would have been 2hours each way. Not what I'd call fun at any price.

yeah that would be a long drive everyday, but man those 70 to 80 hour weekly paychecks are nice There are definitely some serious hazards out there but it's a pretty cool job if you're into turning big wrenches and getting beat up by the 1.5" impact gun that weights about 40 lbs by the time you have a wobbler and socket on it...

Thanks. The house is being built about 10 minutes N of Bham on the Hemmi Road, in the Laurel area. It's so nice and quiet out there, especially compared to the neighborhood we live in now with all the houses 15 feet apart

Awesome! I have a friend that used to live out that way. My parents live out off marine drive, near slater. The main thing I miss about living up there is the space and privacy. I never had neighbors growing up, now I can see in the windows of all of my neighbors. Very cool house, plant some trees so you get a little privacy, and so your daughter has something to climb in when she gets older!
    Congrats again
