FEBRUARY 18TH IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!
I want to see more watercooleds represent! There are trophies for them in the show as well. (btw, great job on the artwork Lemorris! - see you there!)
The United Blood Services truck will be onsite for blood donations.
There is more info on www.facebook.com/peoriavw
There's going to be a lot of cool stuff going on including a raffle for a new 1600cc aircooled motor and other things. There will be a bouncy house, games, the Peoria Fire Department and local vendors.
List of classes are below. We never know how many water pumpers are going to show so yes, trophy list is not huge, but we DO have extras just in case... ie 10 modified Rabbits show up!
SO BRING 'EM!
Here is the Tee- Shirt!

I might be going to a bachelor party that weekend in San Diego (German for whale's vagina), but if not the caddy WILL be there.

Why not?? I have noticed that in general the showing of water cooled people is pretty slim.I wish i knew how to get them (us) more engaged!
So anyway, the trophies for the car show are B I T C H E N!! If your JSW isn't all banged up, stick it in the show! There are several stock trophies for water cooled!

(I updated the flyer to show the car show classes in the first post.)

What is the determination of Custom vs Stock? The majority of people here have some sort of modification, be it lowered, wheels, engine mods etc. So all of us will be lumped into one "Custom" class even though we have different platforms while there are 6 platform based classes for Stock cars?Just furthers my opinion that the people running shows here in the valley are mostly aircooled people that couldn't care less about us.

Guideline for stock vs modfied is roughly 3 major modifications such as paint, body kit, lowering, wheels, engine swap, body modifications...etc.
The lack of classes is due to the lack of participation. The awards will be there when the cars show up. I guess this is a catch 22It's frustrating because the cruise-in last week was testing the waters for the watercooled turn out. Of all the people that said they'd be there, only 3 or so showed up and 20-30 aircooled showed up. This is why i was so disappointed.

One day notice & on a Friday night when most people already have plans you can't exactly expect a big turn out. I'm guessing the word was out a little earlier to the aircooled crowd, which adds to my assertion that we are simply an afterthought to the people who organize these things. If you're here to change that than I'm personally glad to see it.

i counted about 10 watercooled. and that was on short notice. i think with more heads up the watercooled crowd will be better.

Funny...I saw somewhere an aircooled cat wanted to know if his special bus was gonna be juged against other busses.
It's all the same.
I would hope that the trophy isn't the only draw and that folks just show up to show up.
I agree with you though...us aircooled folk have no clue how to set up watercooled classes...or how to truly judge for that matter, and it's not fair at all.
I've been working with these dudes at Peoria though and I know for a fact that if someone wanted to step up and help them figure out what and how to do the watercooled, they'd be extremely appreciative. All in all they're very cool folk and their effort is genuine. I'd be very interested in how to do it as well. I think just about every show in Arizona would benefit. If you wanna chat offline man, I'm all ears and seriously if you wanna vent, I'm cool with that too...it seems like someone might actually have a clue and can guide some people.
All that said, my car is about 2 weeks away from bein put back together. My 11 years and 1 trophy streak will continue, but I'll be there for sure.Really looking forward to it.

I hear ya Lemorris. I've had the Jetta for coming up on 9 years now. Only been in one show. 2 if you count its cameo at Bugtoberfest, not entered.

I am planning to be there in the morning, I have to go up to Prescott in the afternoon.![]()
Would the person who took the step ladder yesterday please bring it back or further steps will be taken

I am damn near positive the watercooled cars will have the same judging standards as aircooled. Points are awarded for every 'category' such as Interior, Paint, Suspension, etc - then totalled up.
I used to show my bug, but i got tired of the participant judging crap because noone knew WHAT they were looking at, they were just voting for their friends.
I hear you on the notice thing. Totally understand. But for what it's worth, the aircooled guys didn't find out much earlier. I was going to go to the 99th/McDowell meet up the week before but i was sick that night and couldn't make it.
Trust me, i have two watercooleds and i don't consider us an afterthought.
YES, i am here to try and change that. I don't know how much i can do, but i can only try. I've been a Vortex member since 2002 who hasn't posted much over the years, but i was here. I had to start fresh due to a bad experience with a member from another board who then followed me here.![]()
Anyhow, wish me luck![]()

I know EXACTLY what you mean. We have a GSD also, and the shedding is ridiculous! My mom bought me one of those "as seen on TV" seat/couch protectors for the back of my car. It's thick vinyl and hooks over the rear seat head rests. It does a MUCH better job then the sheet i used to use. Hair still gets on the floor though.
