Eh, take a ride in a B-type and then in a modern Mack and you probably won't yearn for the B-type anymore.

I am not arguing that the rail system was not an integral part of the connection between eastern and western United States 150 years ago.
Then why are highways all over the world filled with trucks and semis?

You might not know it but freight railways in the US actually have a higher marketshare than in Western Europe. The American passenger rail network might not be very impressive, but American freight railways are.

More on topic, who else thinks that American trucks are far cooler than European trucks? I most certainly do.

Also, train tracks don't pass by every single warehouse in the United States, or anywhere for that matter. Trucks will always be needed.

The Conrail system in the US is quite extensive, taking trailers and shipping containers to various areas.

I agree with OP, but I was hoping this thread was about full size pickups.

I spent the weekend in rural VA and saw lots of 60s-70s-80s Chevy and Ford pickups, especially 70's Chevy C10's.

I'd never realized how incredibly, profoundly cool they are. Beyond cool.

Not slammed or restomodded or whatever, just a good rust-free driver in nice original condition.

A few weeks ago I drove past these 2 rigs in the middle of an oilfield. I finally got a chance to go back and take a few pics.

Anyone have any info on this Cat?

Yeah, it is. It's just too bad that cornbinder is blocking the view of the trailer...
Lately I have been testing "tip-in events". Just the tip-in. Just to see how it feels. Response time is typically on the order of 2-3 seconds. Sometimes the injection timing is a little off...

How many people in this market are going looking at aesthetics when buying these trucks? Its the one market where it should be almost all function.

I know theres some truck drivers in here, please chime in. If youre buying a truck to haul equipment would you go for a better looking truck with less function or something that looks odd that will benefit you.

Sorry if my wording a bit weird, having one of those days where my words dont seem to flow.
Fleet managers only care about costs, parts/maintenance costs, durability, reliability, fuel economy, etc. Owner/operators care more about having the most lights, most chrome, external air cleaners, least aero design possible. Think of it as the truck version of stancing, the less practical it is the more it's revered by the peer group.

COE trucks are a bit strange to drive if youre used to standard US trucks... the cab rocks the opposite direction and can be a bit unnerving at first

      yup

their native environment is moving oil feild platforms around in the desert

fun fact... the slanted front nose comes from having had 2 radiators on the front when it was originally designed. now with more modern cooling packages, theyre able to pop a single one behind the slant, but kept the nose as it was so distinctive.
