If the American car maker has been testing the model before now, they have managed to keep it pretty well hidden as these appear to be the first shots that have been caught of a prototype.

The clear to see rear end will sport a design virtually identical to the original model, however those thick black panels on the other end reveal the front fascia is due to be redesigned. The styling is a bit too difficult to accurately make out but a similar layout to the new Mondeo / Fusion would certainly fit well and a similar shaped grille was displayed last year in the form of the Fiesta ST Concept. One further detail that is revealed from these new spy shots is the line of LEDs we see poking out across the bottom of the headlights.

The prototype caught here should not be confused with the Fiesta ST that the brand currently has under development, read on and you will know this is definitely not the high performance version.
Our spy photographer has also managed to catch a shot of the log book which clearly displays the engine type as 1.0 GDI. This confirms that Ford will be introducing their EcoBoost technology to the Fiesta line-up. This particular prototype is housing a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 80 hp ( 59 kW / 81 PS ), it was developed in the UK and is due to begin production in April.

Expect to see the world debut of the new facelifted 2012/2013 Ford Fiesta at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

If it looks similar to the Fiesta ST concept, it should look good.

This. I drove a Euro spec Fiesta here a couple years ago and it looked much better with projector headlamps.

I call BS. No engineer would use Comic Sans for a logbook.
Of course, I could be wrong. Make a case for why, if you like.

Current ignore list length: 46. Last addition: Jan 17, 2013. Lucky winner.

They should make the fronts of the new Focus and the Fiesta look like downsized versions of this:

I'm just excited for the 1.0 Ecoboost when/if it arrives. Unique sound and good fuel efficiency would make up for mediocre power.

What It Is: Covered-up and cobbled-together prototypes of the 2014 Ford Fiesta hatchback and sedan. The subcompact hatch—and its four-door sibling—have been on sale in the U.S. since 2010, and these spy photos reveal the duo will soon get a mid-cycle face lift.

Why It Matters: As Ford’s smallest U.S. model, the Fiesta will continue to team with the larger Focus to offer consumers two flavors of fuel-efficient, well-equipped, Euro-influenced small cars. We expect the 2014 Fiesta will retain the current model’s upmarket feel and amenities, but an update will keep it fresh in the eyes of consumers.

Platform: The Fiesta’s underpinnings shouldn’t change, but get ready for some heavy cosmetic updates. Up front, the Fiesta will swap its large “dragon eye” headlight design for thinner elements like those on the 2013 Taurus and Fusion sedans. The current model’s thin upper grille and larger lower intake design will be flipped for, again, a more Fusion-like layout. This means a larger upper grille stuffed with Aston Martin–style horizontal slats between the headlights and a smaller opening below.

The rear ends of both the sedan and hatch will get some changes as well. The sedan gets new taillights and a reshaped trunklid that bring the car’s rear view in line with that of the Focus sedan. The hatch’s rear bumper is covered by thick camouflage in these photos, so the changes to that version’s tail are harder to pin down. The single big, round exhaust outlet poking out from their rear ends are likely just test pieces.

Powertrain: In addition to the styling tweaks, we expect the 2014 Fiesta to receive some changes to its powertrain. Ford already has confirmed that the Fiesta will get the company’s new direct-injected, turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The company also said the new EcoBoost motor would replace a four-cylinder in its U.S. powertrain lineup, which we suspect will be the current Fiesta’s 1.6-liter. Don’t be surprised if the workaday 2014 Fiesta comes only with the EcoBoost; Ford says to expect similar performance to the current car’s 120-hp, 1.6-liter four.

Competition: Chevrolet Sonic, Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, Mazda 2, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa.

Estimated Arrival Time: Ford hasn’t yet confirmed when the 2014 Fiesta will go on sale, or even when it will debut. However, Ford has all but confirmed the sporty Fiesta ST will arrive sometime next year, and it would make sense to release that car at the same time as the updated non-ST models. The automaker also stated previously that the 1.0-liter EcoBoost would be available in the U.S. by 2013; together with the ST’s production timeline, that means it’s a pretty safe bet to assume that car will go on sale sometime next year. Expect to see the refreshed Fiesta at an auto show later this year or early in 2013.

I hate it because it's overused in professional situations, despite being hard to read and very unprofessional in its look.

It's visually jarring, distracting, has inconsistent weighting and kerning so it's incredibly haphazard and oddly spaced, and doesn't lead the eye at all.

So then using it on a HEY READ THIS GUYS type document in a test car will prolly jar the minds and get the attention of fortune 500 company engineers.

Maybe, but there are fonts designed to have an impact and catch the eye that also manage to be professional. Comic Sans isn't. It's childish and clumsy, and usually denotes silly things that one shouldn't take seriously, because it was originally designed for speech bubbles in Microsoft Bob.
