NOTES FROM THE ROAD: ch.16

My car looks a little dungpile-ish in it's present state. There is something spooky about a car that is only a few months old looking like this....

For the 16th installment of NFTR we take a look at this completely fvcked Golf .:R that is missing half of its body cladding and interior and then we remember there is meaning in all this nakedness.


If you recall we used the new Black Forest Industries sourced JOM badgeless grille to simmer down the look of the front end. Subtle is good and the hood needed a 'notchin!




With fenders gone its all skeleton with KW V2's and Brembo type 3 365 6-pots on display.




Close up of the brake and suspension bits in a Fenderless society.




Prepping the SRS-Tec front fenders to replace the stockies.



These OEM fenders are on their way to my man Josh (Casperslost) to help straighten his situation out.

I always felt the name Volkswagen was a terrible marketing ploy, as who else would drive cars other than people. "Schmetterlingwagen" sounds much more badass.

hopefully things are going well on the car and you get her back soon. i love where PR is headed with their new products. after comparing many brands and different routes to modding my R, i've decided to wait and see what PR releases before i start the process. really hoping we see a downpipe too.

So they got the air pans today and start building the first batch of Golf R intakes. Then they go to powdercoat and then out to the first 50 who pre-booked 'em. Last I heard there were 10 unclaimed from that batch. More pics to follow plus I am heading to Phoenix around the 4th of July to check in on the car and take better pics of all this new stuff.

Good call, and yes it looks like a DP and catback are in the pipeline...pun intended! More information in mid July on that.

I had Sonic Motorsports in Mountain View, CA order them up. They are called Type 3's I also had Adams Rotors whip me up a pattern matched rear set of rotors only. Hope those get here within two weeks because the build will be done and the car is headed off to get software written in LA.

This isn't really .:R related, but having the ol' whip in AZ for a while still and then on to the software write, I kinda needed to step into an all around "I ain't even worried about it" daily driver. Also for filming sake to haul around all the gear etc, I decided to pick up this 2012 MK6 Jetta. It's a 2.5 so no big power plans or anything. It was supposed to serve more as a support vehicle for the GOLF .:R during the webisode filming with no plans to mod.....

...so I'm just going to bag the bastard, dunk it to the floor on 3-piece wheels and see if perhaps BSH/PR has some CAI or exhaust love for this thing. What an awful, awful addict to have become. Car modding mayhem!
