Anyone heard anything about this game? It looks pretty good. It's the first game out of ex-MLB pitcher Curt Schilling's studio, so I'm interested in seeing if it's actually any good.

    Morrowind/Oblivion creators+R.A.Salvatore+Todd McFarlane= good?

the demo was really buggy, but it wasn't finished. 38 studios didn't want to release it, EA forced it and voila, ****ty feeling demo

the final cut is supposedly much, much more solid. i want to try it. the character has a nice weight, and the game feels solid mechanically.

the one thing i can't stand is the art style.

i WOULD buy the collectors, if curt schilling threw a fastball at the troll stature it comes with.

I'm looking forward to this game. I played the demo and it ran smooth for me. Think I'll be picking this up tuesday.

Played the demo last night for about an hour or so. I loved it. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the the level up menus. A little confusing for me expecially when I tend to just build juice head bruisers for games like this. The magic and poison stuff gets too involved for me. Think I might pick this up when it comes out and take a break from the MW3 addiction before the wife kills me.

Buddy of mine sent me an email asking what I knew about this, and my answer was nothing at all.

I have to check out the demo.

Starcraft 2 announcer extraordinaire and general cool gaming dude "Day9" and Felicia Day are streaming this game live on twitch right now! they just started.

    aka "The Day of Reckoning"
    http://www.twitch.tv/team/reckoning

edit: they will also be giving away prizes to viewers on the stream.

When 38 Studios heard about the streamathon, they got SUPER excited and offered the following prizes to be given away to viewers of the stream. I kid you not. They have offered the following:
    • GTX 560 Nvidia Graphics cards
    • A top of the line Doghouse Systems desktop laser engraved with the Reckoning logo and possibly autographed by the dev team/Visionaries
    • A Spawn studio tour with Todd McFarlane
    • A hand-drawn Destiny card of the winner's choice by Todd McFarlane
    • A 38 Studios Providence studio tour with Curt Schilling and R. A. Salvatore
    • Limited Edition McFarlane Troll figurine
    • T-shirts
    • A life-size Reckoning Great Hammer
    • AND MORE!

    HOW DO I WIN THINGS?
Tune in and we'll have voting polls for the contests (2pm-10pm PST). All you have to do is make a vote and you're automatically entered into the drawing! Voting page: http://reckoning.amalur.com/dayofreckoning

I just ran across this yesterday. I was thinking about checking it out because of the huge talent associated but somehow I don't have huge hopes.

Reviews say everything is pretty generic. In a genre like fantasy though, that kind of goes without saying most of the time.

If I can tear myself away from Skyrim long enough, I was thinking about trying out the demo this weekend.

i'm hoping this takes a bit from skyrim in terms of people wanting more gameplay in the future.

the demo was really easy on hard, i'm wondering if the final game is tougher (i HOPE so)

what kind of game is this? is it like Dark Souls? is it like WoW? Fable?

first impressions: This is a fun game with tons of stuff to do. It reminds me a lot of an MMO in the scale and look of the game. Characters are detailed, but not to ME3 levels. The combat is fun and open to tons of customization through weapon and magic abilities. I like that your character can reset their stats so that you aren't locked into one build. So far there is no grinding! The side missions are fun and have lots of variation, so far. I'm really not a huge RPG gamer, but i give this 4/5 stars so far, have to knock it for graphics that are a bit MMOish. However, gameplay is great.

LOVE this game so far. I dont believe I'm too real far in the main storyline. Just put down Balor lastnight. Also finished the main Warsworn quest. I've put in about 17 hours so far.

This game is huge. The side quests are pretty fun. Some of them actually require you to remember things. I wish more modern games demanded some involvement and memory.

I don't, my memory sucks. Regardless, the multiple choice dialogue questions pretty much guarantee you don't have to remember anything and I like that.

Awesome game, I'm about 15 playing hours in and at level 15. Good pacing, good story. Not sure how much longer the game is though?

it depends intirely on if you stick to the main plot quests or run around doing all the side quests. I think i am doing about 75%-50% of the side quests in each area. To make money, get xp, and find better armor and weapons. I think it's a blast so far. Absolutely no grinding to speak of.

To answer your question; I read that you could complete the game as quickly as 20-25 hours, if you ignore all side quests.

I'm doing probably 75% of side/faction quests. So much so that I go back to the main thinking I'm progressing too much and the mains will be too easy. It's just that fun

I'm pretty far into it but still have a lot of locations to discover. And i discover places in the older zones when i complete side/faction quests. A great RPG so far.

I've got this game as well as both DLCs for it. I've just about finished the teeth of naros while still not having made it half way through the first map on my way to the other DLC. I did finish the elf faction story though. I suppose if I would have paid attention, there would have been a different outcome.

Fun game, with a lot of similarity to the Fable series.

I've spent a good bit of time playing this last week and It's just so repetitive. I'm only level 13ish, but all the quest are: "Go there, kill something, repeat" There's been nothing truly epic feeling about this so far except for the feeling of doing the same thing over and over again. I really had high hopes for this, but it looks like it's going to take a miracle for me to push myself to finish it now that I'm not sick and stuck in bed.

Anyone been reading about 38 studios lately? Schilling has lost pretty much his entire baseball fortune, and the company has filed for bankruptcy, owing creditors over $150 million. To make matters worse, the FBI is now investigating the financial issues within the company.

    http://deadspin.com/5916674/curt-sch...-investigation

I thought this game was pretty good, and I thought this studio had some promise. But it's all over now.

38 Studios founder and former Red Sox star Curt Schilling said he was "tapped out" of cash in his first interview since the studio's demise. In a sympathetic radio interview on WEEI (via Boston Globe) this morning, Schilling said he told his family last month, "The money I saved and earned playing baseball was probably all gone ... Life is going to be different."

Documents released after the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy (liquidation) show that the studio owed $150 million to more than 1,000 entities, most of that debt to the Rhode Island Economic Development Corp., and that the developer had less than $22 million in assets. Rhode Island taxpayers will now have to spend approximately $12 million annually until 2020 to repay the 38 Studios debt to bondholders.

"The employees got blindsided," Schilling said. "They have every right to be upset. I always told everybody if something were going to happen, you're going to have a month or two of lead time, and I bombed on that one in epic fashion."

Schilling also confirmed they were on the verge of signing a $35 million deal for a sequel to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the company's RPG project by Big Huge Games, but talks collapsed once RI Gov. Lincoln Chafee made statements about the studio's precarious financial situation. He also said Reckoning didn't bring in revenue to the studio because it still had to repay an advance to publisher Electronic Arts.
How involved was Curt Shilling in the business? was he actually hands-on, or just an investor? I can't imagine a baseball player knows how to run a game studio. I am still playing through Kingdoms, i think it's a pretty good action-based rpg. It isn't the best in the world but it's better than a lot of the crap shovel-ware out there. I thought the setting, storyline, characters were all very well done for a completely new IP.
