You reminded me of a few days after I got back from H2O. About two hours from home my car sounded a little louder. After getting home I found that part of the exhaust had started to leak just in front of the axle. Not too concerned, I carried on life as usual. About a week later I left the house to go out and got to the intersection around the corner, and when I went to turn left my car went from going "bbbvvvvvvvvvvvvvv" to "BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" and underneath all I could hear was the exhaust bouncing off the ground and dragging along. I got through the intersection and pulled over, shut the car off and looked underneath.

At this same time the car was having charging issues due to a bad cluster connection (voltage regulator is controlled through the cluster, blah blah ten volts whatever). So when I decided to just baby the car back home since I was around the corner, the car wouldn't start again. I'll describe the rest from what must have been the point of view of the two people standing at the bus stop across the street:

Girl gets back into car, releases e-brake and allows car to roll backwards down the hill about 20 feet in the middle of the right lane with traffic coming, almost right into the intersection and suddenly the car bump starts and is loud as hell. Girl then drives a little ways up the road, hangs a u-turn, and drives back down the hill and around the corner, all the while with an exhaust pipe going "ting tin ting ting tin tin ting scccccrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaape."

Needless to say when we got the second Rabbit and I saw the nice, rust free, all one piece exhaust with a dual downpipe I pounced on it!

And Miley, you were asking how my oil pan looked? I found a picture of my last one.

They were hand painted on but they turned brown pretty quick. Acrylic resin is supposed to be the best thing to use which is what I was going to try next, but I don't think I'm doing whitewalls this year.

I'm jealous you get to go to h2o. I've only seen how awesome it is in eurotuner. I think the biggest event we have over here is Leavenworth. It's sweet though, driving through mountains to get to a German themed town. My exhaust hasn't drug on the ground yet, but your story puts into perspective exactly what I need, and exhaust isn't the only necessity.

Soooooooo, I finally got around to properly fixing my clutch cable sleeve bracket, which is also the pedal bracket. I ordered the new bracket from the dealer and after breaking my back lying under the dash for three hours, I finally got it in.

This was the time that I realized the location for my brake light switch was nonexistant on the new bracket.

Apparently there was a year split, and the bracket I needed is no longer made. Of cooooourse! So today I cut the piece I needed off my old bracket and JB welded it onto the new one. And ta da! I have brake lights again...a week later.

      Is it summer yet???????

Not sure if this has been done before, but I've custom fitted the dash from an 83 Rabbit to fit in my Cabby. Had to cut off the lower part of the dash which was the ash tray/coin compartment. I also didn't feel like figuring out how to wire the Rabbit headlight switch to my car, so I cut out the appropriate sized hole to fit my headlight switch in. Drilled a couple of holes for my horn and sub switches, and ta da!

Don't worry, the green pedals aren't staying.
