I have some Girliing G54(Stock front caliper) guide pins for sale. These have no rust and are not bent. They come with OEM bolts. These guide pins are not listed as a separate part number by VW. You would have to buy the whole carrier.
$16 shipped for 2 each (one caliper) or 27 shipped for 4 each (two calipers).
I guess there is some confusion in some quarters. These guides pins are from Girling 54s(this is stamped on the Caliper), not from any other VAG caliper with the #54 stamped on it.
There is also an undocumented rumor, that you can buy these guide pins from either O'Reillys or Autozone, for less than I am selling these used ones for. I don't have a part number for this product, because the source did not provide it, but feel free to check into it. If you find the right product, new, please let me know so I can pull my ad. I wouldn't want to be accused of selling used parts for more than new.
Thank you,
Greg W.

Why a link, maybe to prove what you are talking about. A lot of I said, he said, takes place on VW Vortex. So usually, people try to give pictures or part numbers, so people can learn from others efforts.
G54 is a model number for Lucas/Girling front brake caliper from on a lot of various VAG cars. It is stamped on the top of the caliper. Do you know which VAG cars came with this caliper?
Now in this case, you are partially correct. The number does not refer to the piston size, it refers to size of the bore the piston fits in. But if you take a G60 Girling(stamped on the top) caliper, which is an upgrade for some VAG cars, it does not refer to the piston, as it is a dual piston caliper.
So I took your advice, and went to O'Reilly and Autozone. I went to 3 different O'Reillys.
Most of the time, they came up with the wrong kit. I gave them 9 different VAG cars to chose from. This is the pin kit they came up with for a VW MK3 ABA Jetta and Golf. Well, gee, that doesn't look right.
We finally came across a kit that looked right, this was for a Audi 4000, and Scirocco. In case you didn't know, these cars have the same caliper as the MKIII ABA, just different caliper carrier. But they did not have it in stock at any of the 3 stores I went to. In fact, a search showed it nowhere in there system. Special order, from guess who? Beck Arnley. The part number for the kit from Beck Arnley, was 084-1244, and was $46.59. Came with 2 pins, boots and bolts. I could not confirm, what country they were made in. The cheapest I could find these on line were $26 plus shipping, from Amazon.
I didn't buy one, so I could not compare it with the originals. It would have been a pain to return, as I do not need the kit.
Here is a picture of the kit.
Now Autozone. Now, there were only 2 stores in my area. At first they could not find the kit either. Had to give them 4 different VAG cars, before they found the kit. Now you were correct, sort of. The kit comes with 2 pins and bolts, but no boots. Here is a picture of the kit, still in the package. I left them in the pack so I could not be accused of using another pin as a comparison. The part number for this kit is H15913. And you are correct, the kit is only $5.43, including tax.
Seems to be a problem with this kit though. If you will notice in the next picture, the pins are a lot longer than the originals. These would not fit in a Girling G54 caliper carrier. In addition, the pin diameter of the original is 8.38mm. The diameter of the pin in the Autozone kit, is 7.96mm, and that was measured through the plastic.
By the way, this kit in Made in China. Of the 9 VAG cars, I had listed running this caliper, this kit came up for 7 of them. The other two did not list a kit. You can reference this kit online at the Autozone web site using the part number I have given. As for hard chromed, this kit came with zinc plated pins.
So if you got something different, please let us know. Facts only please, no generalities.
I am just trying to help out other VAG peoples
By offering pins that are in excellent shape, not corroded
Made in Germany
And are hard to find, if at all
At a low price.

My, my. Testy are we. I am just asking for a clarification.
I took your suggestion. I went to the stores, and the sales person and I looked through all the bins, trying to find a Caliper Pin Kit that would match what I had. Nothing. Then they looked through there store computer, and could find nothing. What more is a person or someone looking for parts supposed to do?
Actually, I didn't have to check the fit. I pulled the pins from a rear Girling 38 caliper, which are the same diameter as the Girling 54s, but longer. There were still shorter than the ones from Autozone. The Girling 38(shorter than the ones from Autozone), bottomed out in the carrier, the stock ones did not.
Picture of Girling 38 rear caliper pin, compared to Autozone part.
Girling 38 caliper pin installed in Girling 54 front carrier. The 38 pin is on the left.
So too long maybe? As for the smaller diameter, yea VAG made a big mistake buying calipers from a company that put too large a diameter pin in the 1000s upon 1000s of calipers. Not only that, the pins were too short.
But Autozone, working in conjunction with a Chinese company, determined the pins were too short and the wrong diameter, and produced the correct replacement product.
If you notice in this post, I have started referring to the G54s, as Girling 54 calipers. I am sorry if I confused you. In my area, we refer to the calipers as G54s and G60s. Mainly, because in the past a lot of people were confused because the Corrado G60 (car model) came with Girling Girling 54s. So when people were wanting to upgrade to the 280X22mm rotors, it was confusing.
You may be right on all those other calipers having 54 stamped on them. I only deal with Girling 54s and Girling 60s. Those come stamped with "Girling" on them. Most people I talk to understand what I am saying. I will have to change the wording in my ad, so as not to confuse people, who might want to buy them.
Of course, it doesn't help when people refer to rotors in inches. VAG doesn't list any rotors in inches. They use 239mm, 256mm 280mm, 276mm, etc.
Since I have spent all this time defending what I am selling, maybe you should spend some time, and get the correct part number from O'Reillys or Autozone and post it up here. Maybe with a picture. That way others would be able to buy the correct product. Might help someone out and save them some money. And when you do, if it is less money and not made in China, I will pull my ad.
Hawking used parts. You say it like it is a bad thing. You don't do this?

Oh, by the way, you missed a couple. These also have 54 stamped on them, but they also have Girling stamped on them.
Audi 4000, 4000Q, 80, 80Q, B3 90/90Q, and some Audi 90Q 20v.
VW Quantum Syncro
MKII Jetta 16Vs
VW Scirocco 16V

Sorry, needed to edit this. For the MKII Jetta, there was a mid year split in 89. The later MKIIs had the Girling 54s.
For the Audi 90Q 20V, some had Girling 54s and some had Girling 60s.

Actually, this computer has 3 Chinese parts in it. My kid built it. Basically, because my last two computers, HP and Dell did not last as long as my two old Microns. One is 10 years old, and the Laptop is 12 years old. I use the desk top for old programs no longer available, and the Laptop for tuning.
You may be right about Chinese products, but I choose to avoid them. My families preference in buying is in this order, Made in USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Central America and South America, Japan, and the rest of Asia.
Like I said, I am more than willing to pull this ad and admit, that you can buy new for less, but until you show me where, with part numbers and pictures, the ad stays.
I know that Lucas, Girling and TRW are now the same company. Of course, Lucas bought Girling before WWII, but TRW did not come into the picture, until around 2000, which is after these brakes were originally made. Of course, that being said, I only buy boot kit from TRW, because I can get ones not made in China.
As for remanufactured, I prefer to rebuild my own. That way I know what was wrong with the caliper to start with, who manufactured the replacement parts, and if the job was done properly.

It seemed like much more nonsense before. His posts were reported by a member and since this is a FS ad they had to be removed. It's either I remove his posts or lock the thread.
Edit: this thread is locked anyway as this topic is posted across several forum platforms.
