      Hii people!
I'm looking for an affordable car shipping company to ship my car from NY (U.S) to France.
since the car is pretty old 1990 Volkswagen, I'm hopping that the shipping will not charge that much...

Let me know if you any?
      Thx.

why not just burn a pile of money in your fireplace? it would be less paperwork and achieve basically the same result.

Contact a local shipping port. you'll have to rent a conainer to ship it in. It doesn't matter how old the car is, shipping is per container. As for duties, if there are any involved, you'll have to research that yourself.

Why would you want to do that? Shipping charges are probably more than the car is worth. You would be better off selling the car before you leave and buying something once you get there.

Last I heard there was a guy in the NYC area who was doing overseas shipping for pretty cheap.

I don't remember his name, but I know he is a Nigerian prince so he's got to be trustworthy.

Why do that when the MK2's were much better in europe. Buy one there, have it break down less, profit.

They shipped 4 cars for me (to Bremen Germany). Not sure if they ship directly to France. U might have to pick it up in Germany. Price was about $1000 each.

Thx all for all the supports.
Well, I really want to sell it so I did throw some ad already on the net but the thing is if I find a good deal to ship it, rather keep it!
Also, you guys know how much money we put into our dub so I'm kinda sad to let her go for a ridiculous price, knowing that I'll never gonna get back the money invested on it but really?...Hope someone will buy her and take good care of her.

The cheapest shipping company I found is around 1600$, I'll have to pay for the custom once I got there.

If anyone might be interested on buying her, let me know, I'll be happy to tell the A to Z that I put and change on the car!!
      thx guys.

      ^This X infinity.

Not to mention, importing a car into France is an enormous PITA. If there's one thing the French love more than wine, baguettes, and Gitanes it's paperwork. You will first of all have to pay a VAT of, I believe, 19.6%. If you sell the car within two years, you will also have to pay a duty of 28%. You will also have to have proof of ownership, including the original bill of sale, a customs certificate ($$), registration documents ($$), a confirmation by the manufacturer that the vehicle complies with French vehicle standards (good luck with that one), an application to register the vehicle in France ($$), proof of identity and French residence, and a certificate of inspection ($$). If the French authorities don't like anything about you, your car, or your paperwork, they can impound the vehicle (at your expen$e). Retrieving it from impound involves more paperwork and more headaches than you think could be possible. Finally, French bureaucracy moves at a pace that makes glacier-racing seem exciting.

Only a dubber would want to ship a $600 car for $1000 to a place where he could buy the same car for $500.
