Thread: 24w4 ecu reflash - recall?

    1. 02-11-2012 09:34 AM #1
Had my first oil change at the dealer the other day. They did an ecu reflash that apparently was a recall. Service advisor didnt have any details on it other than it was based on customer concerns/complaints. Anybody have any idea what it was for? by the way my car is a 2011 2.5 sportline manual

Rough running behavior and cold start issues at certain conditions (under high electric power consumption).

Glad I came across this. I have been noticing an odd stumble in acceleration in second gear. Must have been what people have been complaining about.

Just in case this impacts someone other than me.

It appears that the RECALL-24W4-ECM update can cause the tach to stop working. The notes on my receipt says "Tech Tip to peform capacity discharge for this concern. Performed capacity discharge-Operating to VW SPEC"

Maybe this is why my car intermittently acts weird.

      6speed Auto

Sometimes, on a cold start... instead of the revs running high around 1.5 and gradually calming down... it would INSTANTLY drop to 600. When this happens my car stumbles from 2nd to 3rd to sometimes 4th... and when coming to a stop, it sometimes stumbles when downshifting from 2nd to 1st.

Is this the same thing we are talking about here? I hope so so that way I know something will be fixed regarding it..

My first full tank after the 24w4 ecu reflash was 31.9 MPG. Part of that may have been from an 'overfill' on the last fillup. I will see on next fillup. I takes about week and a half to two weeks for me to burn a tank of gas.
