I would start with the ABS sensors, they might just need to be cleaned... plus if they havent been changed (EVER) it would be a good place to start.

      Good luck with the car....

Easier to delete the ABS, but unless you are on a track it doesnt help in any way... LOL.....
Thank god for he Nurburg Ring here...

How about Scanning the car before throwing parts at it.

And also, check to see that the rear brakes have the ABS rings in them. Forgetting to re-install those has seen more ABS lights than anything else.

In my car, the light can be turned on and off with the key. I need a new switch. When the car is on, try wiggling the key a bit from left to right but not turning the car off. Works on my car.

Very true, My original post was a constructive attempt at helping with the ABS light. In my car, I need a new switch and spent a long time figuring that out. But someone decided to hack on what I said by calling me cheap for not fixing it YET.

But yes the switch is one of the last things to check in the list but its an easy one to do and takes no time at all to look at. And I got that off of an old VW magazine that had list of known problems with VR's

ABS light also comes on if you are low on brake fluid. Best move is to scan before replacing any parts.
