It looks like I've found a vehicle that will be replacing my Sportwagen. Drove the new 2013 Audi allroad and will be putting a deposit on one this week. I'll be driving the JSWaround until May or June when the allroad arrives.

The Allroad is bigger and has the all wheel drive. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE my Sportwagen... It's just that we have another little one coming that we really didn't think would happen.

Are you sure the allroad is arriving that soon? I see no indication that it will be here at the end of the year but hopefully I'm wrong! Also, what is MSRP of the allroad? It is likely twice the price of my JSW TDI so hardly a comparable vehicle. It does look amazing though!

The JSW isn't for everyone that needs the room. I no longer do and I love the size. Congrats on the new arrival.

Audi says June or July.... Possibly as early as mid to late May.

I'm guessing there will be no manual transmission option...this is what killed every Audi option for me when I bought the JSW. It is very, very frustrating being married the MT...there's NOTHING worth owning out there except the JSW in sub $50K market.

It looks like the starting price for the allroad is going to be around $38k.

wish I could get the Allroad, can't afford.

or better yet and probably a little cheaper if it came accross the pond... I'd totally take a Passat Alltrack.

Yeah, I could handle something like that if it had the TDI - preferable the 3.0 TDI

I'd jump all over an AllTrack as well, but my sources in Herndon, VA say there are absolutely no plans to bring it to the U.S.

This is likely because of the Crossover SUV VW is working on based on the U.S. Passat platform.

    congrats.
I went from a 2010 JSW TDI to a 2011 A4. You will not be dissapointed.

We have an '11 A4 and a '12 JSW. The A4 is noticeably smaller than the JSW. Is the new Allroad still A6 based?

It's on a slightly modified A4 Avant platform.

Definitely a non-starter for me. We can't even fit our rear facing baby seat into the A4 with a front passenger. JSW, no problem.

I just came from a B7 Avant and would've loved to wait and get into an all road. However once we start seeing the all roads hit here, you will see that they are almost double the price of a JSW. It will no doubt be a great car, and the review on the one the guys at Audizine got to drive looks great. Just kind of hard to compare cars that are so far apart in price. Props if you get one, I'm sure you will be happy.

with rear facing baby seats in the b8 A4, you have to put it in the middle between the the fronts seats. To be honest, this where the baby seat is supposed to be anyway for best protection from side impacts and rear side airbags (if you have them).

Now, when I had my JSW, I didn't have a kid yet, so I can't definitively say that a baby seat would have fit any better or worse, but I quickly compared the specs and the rear seat leg room is within about 1/4" between the two cars, and I don't really remember the back seat in the JSW being any bigger, but that's me.

that being said, the JSW does have a tremendous about of storage room in it for the price, but it's all in wierd places like those pockets under the rear boot tray that my wife referred to as "good for lasagna trays and little else". I haven't missed it at all going to the B8 A4 sedan (you can't get a stick in an Audi wagon anymore). All things considered, when it comes to interior space, I really really miss the last generation Passat wagon. that thing was beyond cavernous. I had one of those before the JSW and I remember being very frustrated at the loss of storage space when I went to the JSW. I guess everything is relative.

The wheels of change are turning. Order was placed on Friday for a new allroad. Initial thoughts are that it will be here in June!

I sat in the allroad at the car show a few months back. Loved it! It's essentially what I wanted my JSW to be. Love my JSW but would have rather grabbed an Allroad or a 328xi msport but the JSW price is hard to beat.

    Congrats OP and enjoy!

Last I heard the Allroad pricing was going to fall between the A4 Avant and the A6 Avant of which it is replacing both, closest thing I heard for a solid starting number here in the US is 43K....I was shopping for the A4 Avant until I learned I could no longer order one the way I wanted and the almost extra 6k for the all road pushed me right out of the Audi dealership and back to VW.

Thanks for the input. I couldn't find any pricing online. I guess I will be driving the R32 a bit longer.

There is a thread in Audi Allroad section with the pricing info. Mine is a Premium Plus with the layered oak inlays. It prices out to $43,750 before any discounts or anything like that.

About a week ago went to have my 10k service done at the VW/Audi dealer. While waiting, I wandered and looked at some Audi's. Very nice A8 for 90k. Then asked the salesman if they had any A4 Avants. He said they had an Allroad so i went out and looked at it. Well, fit and finish is what you'd expect from an Audi....fantastic. Paint was great, the rims were really nice (think they were 20") and the interior was "to die for". Interesting stuff, comes with a Google Earth type nav system. Salesman says that you don't see a rendering of where you are you see the actual picture. He says that it's really impressive and after the 6 month trial is "only" $30/month subscription. Rear hatch is push button open and closed. The one I saw had aluminum accents and I prefer the wood accents above. The car is gorgeous BUT, after sitting in it I don't think there is as much room as a JSW at least up front...I didn't sit in the back. Furthermore, I think the rear "hatch/trunk area of the JSW is bigger than the Allroad. Then there's the price, think it was around 46K. Just a bit pricey for me. Think our JSW's are a "steal". Good luck with the Allroad.
