Close the window, hold the switch in the UP position for 5 seconds. Lower the window a couple inches, repeat. Do this 2 or 3 times. That should initialize it.
Please post an auto-scan so we can see if you've got any faults that may be related.

I've got two B5.5 wagons. The 2003 GL has one-touch window operation enabled. The 2004 GLS does not, but should. (http://www.edmunds.com/volkswagen/pa...tyle=100377407)
I found this write-up on Passatworld that describes how to do the coding with a "Brand X" device.
http://www.passatworld.com/forums/61...se-remote.html
I haven't found anything on the Ross-Tech site (including the B5 wiki) nor anything via Google that talks about setting up one touch window operation on B5s. I'd love to be able to use my VCDS to solve this problem.

Please note: You have two (2) B5 Passats.
the 2004.5 is considered a B5.5, as it was the re-introduction of the Passat B5 (.5) TDI.
As Anony stated, excercise the Window switches per his reply.

I tried several times but the window reacts the same. One touch doesn't work (yet).
Will get the scan when I get home, then I'll post it.
@Tim. The B5 refresh happened in the middle of model year 2001 production. Mine have all the distinguishing characteristics of the B5.5 facelift. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Passat_(B5)
Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

Your Address 46 is identical to my 3B Diesel, which has one touch windows.
Your Address 16, not found on my 3B, has faults that could cause an issue... just guessing.
Your Address 17 is Part Number 3B0 920 929 B, mine is 3B0 920 929 C, coding matches my coding, 15235.

Thanks, Tim,
Address 16 seems to be the cruise control & stereo switches on my steering wheel. These seem unlikely to be related to the windows.
@Ross-Tech... Any thoughts from you? I looked over the Ross-Tech A4 (B5) wiki, which has a bit more info than the Passat Wiki has, but I'm not sure this info ports directly over.

Did you try enabling program memory, ref the repair manual, to see if the controller supports the feature?

Yup RTFB
Try force program by establishing the window full travel holding the button going down and also going up.
Then key cycle and see if the memory settings in the window slave save the data.
Pretty common to do after a repair of the window regulator.

Feel better now? Good... I'm in awe. How could I be so stupid? Wait...maybe not... Does it matter when you take the key out relative to the window cycling? Should you open a door to deactivate the window switch? There are enough variables that it's worth asking for some expert advice. Thanks for giving it your best shot.
Bentley manual is of no help at all here. (I have the hardback, two volume edition.) I looked both at the window regulator replacement section (T-64) and at the coding (Z-32) sections. I checked the door trim and window switch instructions. (p. U-72) No joy. (All in Volume II.)
I do have two position window switches...one touch with a detent that separates that mode from the on demand mode (press & hold).
Ross-Tech can you add your expertise to this conversation?

Scan your 2003, and compare Controllers and coding in the Controllers.
Look at the Part numbers of the Controllers, and make note of any differences. (Particularly the Suffix Letter of the controllers)

I can't find a way for VCDS to access the 80 Tõrsteuer. It looks like the code FS KLO 0009 from the working car it what needs to be there instead of code FS KLO 0202.

In that car, the door control modules are "Slaves" or "Sub-Systems" of the CCM; they are not directly addressable.

Thank you for joining in the discussion.
Do you think resetting the CCM to defaults would do the trick? The car came from the factory with one-touch as a standard feature.
Also, others have mentioned putting the door controller into some sort of learning or reset mode. I haven't found any actual instructions on how, exactly, to do this. I assume that's the only way to force a code onto the door controller.
#21
I really don't know why one-touch isn't working in your 2004. Are you certain you've "synched" the windows properly? That's the only "learning" mode I'm aware of which would be applicable to this issue. Press and hold to run the window down; when it bottoms out, keep holding the switch and count 1-Mississippi, 2-Mississippi then release. Press and hold to run it all the way up; when it reaches the top, keep holding the switch and count 1-Mississippi, 2-Mississippi, then release. Do this twice, for each window in the car. I know you said you did this, but you said you held for 10 seconds, and that might be too long.
One thing that's slightly puzzling is that the 2003 actually has newer firmware in the CCM than the 2004. Has the 2003's CCM been replaced at some point?
BTW, the Audi A4 CCMs are quite a bit different than these.

Thanks for the specific instructions on the "synching." I'll follow your instructions precisely and report back. Since you said "each window," I'll assume you mean all four, not just the front two. My previous tests have only been on the front windows, since the one-touch feature isn't installed for the rear windows. (On both cars, the front window switches have off/one-touch/detent/on and the rears are simply off/on.) I don't know if engine off/on makes a difference, but I'll do this engine off for consistency.
While under previous ownership, the 2003 had a water damage repair with extensive splicing done to the CCM wiring. I'm uncertain as to whether the CCM was replaced, but it's hard to think that the corrosion that claimed the wires would not have affected the CCM. (The water damage came from a clogged drain under the battery tray, with water entering via the cabin air filter housing.) The 2004 has no history of CCM issues.
Thanks for the info on the A4 (B5) Audi CCMs. I won't spend any more time looking in that direction to solve B5 Passat CCM problems.

I followed Uwe's instructions one window at a time for all four windows. I turned the ignition off, removed the key, and did not open a door. I reinserted the key, tuned power on, and the window behavior remained as it was before. One touch is still disabled.
Following this, I also tried both front windows at the same time through two cycles. That didn't work, either.
I also changed the CCM coding to unlock all the doors at once. The CCM took this change and the feature worked correctly for the new setting. (CCM will accept new codes.)
I think the logical next step is a rescan followed by a reset of the CCM to factory defaults.
#24
OK
You may have a faulty switch panel diode.
Since your car was an ARK/Bathtub.
A default in VCDS is always a good start in my opinion.
You will need to remarry your keys possibly for remotes.

Thanks, Jack. Appreciate the reminder about the remotes. Nothing like trading one inconvenience for another.
Oddly enough the 2003 (one touch works) was the one that was flooded.
The garaged 2004 is working with disabled control setting.
Off to reset to defaults.

Have you ever considered swapping modules just to see if it is isolated to the CCM?

The best and fastest way to reset windows is to put key in dr. side door lock , unlock car and hold key in unlock position , All windows will go down, lock car and hold key in lock position , all windows will go up.
Windows are reset and auto up/down will work.

The wife was sick today and the kids had LAX tryouts(2)/practice(1).
That means no ripping up the carpet on the duty wagon.
Thursday or over the weekend...
Two reasons to stick this out until its fixed (in addition to persistence).
My daily drive takes me from a short sharp 90 degree right turn into a security check point. One touch means cool and dry.
The car is a 1.8T manual 4Motion wagon. This car should be fully functional.
