Went to Springfield VW yesterday and bought a base CSG R. There was also a 4 door in blue in the showroom. Loving it so far. She now lives in N. VA.

Can anyone recommend an installer for a clear mask? I want to get it on the hood, mirrors, front bumper (up high) and maybe a partial on the front fenders. I'm still in the break-in period and have window tints schedule for May 17, but want to get everything in place before I go on a longer road trip.

Which clear side marker would you buy base on the color *clear*

Took some comparison shots and the ECS clear side markers are dull and yellow looking.

    Finally!

I probably didn't wait as long as most people, since I didn't put my name on a list until mid-January. . . but it's still about 3 weeks later than I originally planned. Anyway, my new Golf R is at the dealer now, and tomorrow I'll go pick it up (assuming all is well when I go to do so)!

Not entirely sure if it'll have the front plate drilled or not. They were trying to tell me they couldn't inspect it without the plate mount, and I informed them that it's not the mount, but that it has a front tag (which I could zip-tie on if needed). . . we'll see. Partly because I want to get a different mount, but also because if I get a clear-bra installed, it's probably easier to get done on a clean bumper vs one with a mount drilled in the middle.

Not true. My Golf R was inspected w/out any tag (or mount plate) affixed to the front of the car. Hell, it was inspected before it was sold! (Bought in April, has a March sticker on it, and only had 11 miles on it when I got it.)

Just shove your plate up on the dash so you can see it through the windshield, until you decide how/where you want to mount it

    Oh, and congratulations!

I would host. I have hosted car club get togethers at my place before (porsche).
however, friends of ours are getting married here in the early fall, and cars-in-the-field tear it up pretty good.

it would be sweet if a vendor stepped up and held an R-specific get together. I'd be down.

Has anyone that purchased from Lindsay VW talked with them about being tune friendly? Or have taken a tuned car to them for service?

Just traded my Genpu Mazdaspeed3 for a RB 2 door Golf R last Saturday. Checking in from Arlington. I am really loving it so far! This is the first actually, legitimately nice car I have ever owned. Being able to carry on a conversation at highway speeds is such a novelty and a luxury to me...

    Got mine today!

Think I need a few days to remember how to drive manual again, but it's nice.

I think my only complaint is that there isn't really a center console (Unless I'm missing something, and it's hidden under the iphone thingy). So, will get some of those seat-drawers.

They didn't drill my plate which I'm happy about. . . and I ordered one of those US Millworks ones.

Traded in my 08 MazdaSpeed 3 and picked up my RB 2-door loaded from Antwerpen VW yesterday. Made sure that they didn't drill or pinstripe the car like they did to the 2-door base they have on the lot. The car is impressive, but doesn't really feel much faster than my '11 DSG GTI DD - nothing a tune won't fix though

Hey, buddy.. FYSA.. I bought a '12 GLI Autobahn from Antwerpen in January. 2 things you should be aware of. 1) they didn't give me my $2000 worth of tax money for the trade in (they don't have to, but every decent dealership does).. 2 months after I bought the GLI, I traded up for the R at Ourisman VW in Laurel and found out Antwerpen screwed me out of that tax money and 2) their service department is HORRIBLE. Their shop foreman yelled, seriously yelled, at me when I told them not to put on the front tag holder. They gave me a van with 3 flat tires and NO gas to drive when they took my car for service. It took a week for what should've taken a couple days. They locked my car inside their shop so I couldn't pick it up when I got back to town (had to call and beg for them to come open up and give me
my car). I hate Antwerpen.. If you stick with them, you'll learn the hard way buddy...

Please do yourself a favor and make the drive over to Ourisman VW in Laurel. They'll treat you a thousand times better and not break stuff on your car while they take a week to "fix" something else.

I hated the fact that they pinstripe everything, too.. Takes so much away from the cars..

Congrats on your R.. Now get the heck out of Pasadena..

Thanks for the heads-up guys Didn't know they had that kind of reputation. Even if the dealership is shady/****ty, at least the sales guy I worked with seemed alright (Nate). I paid under MSRP (35.5) and got more for my trade (13) than what it kbb'ed for (12.2) - oh, and I did make sure that I only paid tax on the discrepancy.

The finance dude did try REALLY hard to sell me extra coverage, etc, and also tried to sneak in a .3% increase in my finance rate...

Also, I didn't even let them wash the car or take any of the stickers off

Now edit your profile I still see Mazda speed in there

I went in to watch them PDI my car in person.

    -No washing/Drying
    -No installing anything
    -No removing sticker
    -No installing wheel bolt caps
-Remove seat cover inspect seats, reinstall covers

No nothing at all these guys at the dealerships are so rough with the new cars, I've seen them drop towels and pick it up and continue washing or use a broom to remove snow off the paint

Good on you buddy.. The finance guy is a bit pushy there.. the real problems come with the service dept though.. so be careful.
