Looks nice. That's the intake I want to get... eventually. GIAC is saying that I'll need an upgraded intercooler and a turbo-back to go stage 2. So that's going to be my priority for now.

I have my TBE on order, I'm hoping it gets here soon. Once it does I'm going to stage 2. I probably won't upgrade the IC until next spring... Unless I get bored!

Just took my Golf R into Lindsay in Sterling today for the 90day... I went there for a reason - I am APR Stage 1 with the Stage 1 badge on the back - Had NO issues

Just realize though if at some point down the road you screw something up due to your mods (ex: cam follower failure due to APR HPFP) then don't go getting mad at Lindsay because they won't fix it and ruining my mod friendly dealership - just saying

That's my car. I wondered whether it would wind up here.

Close encounter at less than 5 mph with a dump truck on the 14th St. Bridge. Sigh.

Sterling is a little too far away from me, but thanks. Maybe someone closer can use them. Cool.

How about Stohlman VW? One of their techs told me that they don't mind working on modded cars as long they know what you've done; He said they wouldn't want to accidentally wipe out your expensive tune.

I'd avoid Stolhman unless you know someone directly from Stolhman who has recommended you and "hooked you up"... plus if your going to go to Stolhman you might as well drive the extra couple of miles to Lindsay...

OK, thanks. I have two VW dealers (Congressional and King) close to me but I've never really gotten good vibes from either (though King's service bays do look really clean )

Unless I just slap the VW badge on my other car and hope no one notices.

Two hours of track time and 30 minutes of wet skid pad, lunch and a T-shirt for $50 -- Thank You VW!!

Summit Point Shenadoah Circuit is awesome, highly technical, lots of tight turns to string together, two long straights, one ending in a hairpin turn and the other ending in a Karussell replica.

Lots of automotive eye candy. The weather was even reasonable. Couldn't ask for a better day.

I picked up an R last Friday, but she's been sitting in the garage until I can find someone to install 3M Paint Protection in the area.

It was $550. . .guess it would be cheaper if nothing needed to be buffed out. Dropped of Thursday afternoon, picked up Friday same time. It was less than others, and the swirls are gone, so I'm happy about that.

New 2013 4D Carbon Steel Grey owner here... Username may be familiar to anyone that used to be on dragVA.com / vadriven.com.

Anyway, I purchased it from Mahdi at Lindsay. Fantastic guy to work with, and Lindsay beat USAA's price and interest rate (which is pretty hard to do), so I financed in house with them. Traded my 2011 Infiniti EX35 for it, and there is only about three things I miss from that car, all of which can be worked around, so I am not looking back at all, and I cannot wait to get break in done so I can have some fun!

Got me a 2013 4dr CW R a few weeks back. Here in Yorktown VA. Lovin the car!

For those that got the opti-coat - do you really have to clean and wash your car that much less? And does it play that big of a difference in regards to break dust?

    Thanks!

I somehow misplaced the rubber gasket that is located at the round end while be stored in my garage and I need to put the stock intake back on. Is there anyone in the area who might have swapped to another intake and still has the original pipe and willing to sell it?

Maybe your local VW dealership may have the gasket in stock in their parts department?

    Thanks for the info guys.

Unfortunately it only comes with the Air Intake Pipe. I called "Bud" at Keffer VW (North Carolina) and they helped me track down a dealership in Ohio who had it in stock (apparently the only one in the US). Apparently a customer had ordered it and never picked it up.

I am having the part sent next day to me. Very expensive piece to loose.

I realize I may not be totally invited around here, but oh well. I like VW's even though I don't own one these days.

I can verify that Ourisman appears to give half a darn about customer service, and I didn't get a peep out of them when I was bringing a stage 2 MkVI GTI in for the scheduled maintenance though the Service Dept guy did do his spiel about aftermarket work in a CYA type of way.

Russell isn't terrible in the service department as far as taking care of you, but they make no bones about not giving two eff's about you. It's like going into a fast food place in DC.

R's are like Unicorns around here. I saw one near Fort Meade in February, and I haven't seen one since.
