i got the glass installed in my rabbit for 285...be carefull with quotes, mk1 rocco glass is totally not available anymore besides random single pieces in a warehouse...I know probably 100 people that got quotes (some up in the 800-1000 range!) and when it came time to order they always got a call that the glass was NLA

Last I was looking, finding something in a used car was the only option. Check the rocco forum though, iirc they got a group buy together to have some new glass made a couple years back

What year is that? Looks really straight, I've always wanted a early rocco.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a few PMs out on people that are selling glass. I'd rather have OEM glass, but in the end, I might have to pay out the nose for it.

Also found out the Speedo is broken, and look at what I just happen to come across in my bin of rare gauge clusters...

Five bucks says it doesn't look like that when you eventually get it installed.

Wow, I didn't realize you got it for so cheap. That's awesome! I have a friend over near Yakima that has two MK1 roccos so I'll see if he has a bead on any glass. I know they are hard to come by.

    Great buy.

    Great buy.
Please do. Let me know. I'm looking for the following:

Windshield (prefer OEM factory, but will take anything right about now)
    OEM Gas cap, non locking
Factory sliding ragtop wind deflector (smoked plastic kind)
    Rear hatch struts
OEM wheel arch trim (1 front, 1 back)
    Factory working radio

Tonight I got a battery and the car fires up right away now.

Jump into the scirocco sub forum, lots of people horde parts for the Rocco's. Also try mk1 autohauz on eBay... that guy has a ton of early little parts. Also mike potterman @parts4vw.com is a great resource for some of the early goodies. 1000 congrats on your find and enjoy the mk1 Dave. I'm so glad I kept mine but thanks a million for the exposure when I did contemplate selling it.

Wow! I am super jelly! That looks like an awesome find. IIRC your windshield will...be troublesome. They are amazing hard to find, and expensive when you do. Most people just go and buy another Mk1 Scirocco if the windshield is good.

    I await updates!

Ninja edit: I have two gas caps one is the "hinge door" lock without a lock in it, 6 point ( 5/10 cond) and the other is a flat 6 point with a lock that does not work 8/10 cond)

I talked with my friend in Yakima (Darrell) and he's also looking for a windshield. He has a coupe and a ragtop. The ragtop needs a new windshield and he's had a hell of a time finding one. Parts are tough to find for those early Sciroccos.

Done and done. still can't find anything from ebay, CL or Mk1 Autohaus. I'll hit up Potterman tomorrow.

I found a company that has 15 in their warehouse back east. I'm going to buy them all. So if he's looking, tell him.

Found a company that only sells commercial glass. They have 10 - Mk1 Scirocco windshields. Just bought them all.

So if anyone knows anyone that needs one....

With my crazy schedule, I am finding a hard time to make time. Still playing catch up with all the work from my hand and arm surgery.

Thanks Tyler! Yes, It's been fun, but also challenging. Finding parts for a Mk2 Scirocco is easy compared to a Mk1. But if you know me, I'm always up for any kind of a challenge.

The p/o was james right? I used to work with him and you got a hell of a steal. He got quoted around the same for the windshield that's why it was never fixed. I know he did tons of maintenance on it while he owned it.

Yea, James' old car. Your not working at Barrier any more? Or is he not working there?

The problem with the windshield is they don't make them any more. I sourced a company back east and they had 10 in a warehouse some where. Last ones in the US. I bought all 10. The were not as expensive as he thought, he told me something like $600.
