Does anyone here know the average 0-60 time for a stock jetta 2.0? I'm just wondering because i just bought this car a month ago and doesnt seem as quick as i thought it'd be. The auto-transmission thats going out could be part of this.. ? Anyway thanks, Post your 0-60 if you'd like!

lol with an auto like 10 seconds.

      Manuals are around 8+

      thats for 2.0s.

      Vrs are obviously quicker..

Drive a vr and you will think other wise. 3rd is the most fun on the manual transmissions. Automatics suck. Will never drive one.

You got a whopping 90ish hp to the wheels (probably less). Don't know how quick you were expecting.

I'm pleased with 3rd on mine since I have the TT ecu chip, revs up to 7500 (not safe) and my speedo went all the way to 110

I think 2nd pulls pretty nicely. Even in a 2.slow. And yes, 3rd is definitely fun when getting on the Interstate. I haven't actually timed it with a stopwatch, but if I shift just right from 1st to 2nd and get the launch just right, it FEELS like about 8.5-9 for 0 to 6200 in 2nd (~57mph). Of course it probably is closer to 10.
We need a series like this state-side. I'm in if there is one, or will be one. VW Cup 2014/5, anyone?

How your gears feel are also dependent on your trans code.

I have a CHE, and I can get to 60+ in second gear, raced a friend of mine with a different trans code and he shifted into 3rd when I was about 3/4 of the way through second.

Regardless, gears 1-3 are pretty fun.

Yeah, I've had some surprising wins as well. There was a 2000-2005 Galant that thought he had a chance. Countless Hondas (fart cannons and 50-inch rims don't make it go fast). There was a Crown Vic that tried but I somehow stayed a nose ahead. There was a Hyundai a few months ago that I thought for sure had a shot.. being brand new and having a ~2.5L V6. I won with ease.. didn't even have to go past 5k, and they were trying.

However, I know when I don't have even a remotely close chance. Anything over 5 liters and I don't even think about trying.

Your 2.slow which had 115-hp 14 years ago against a brand new DOHC 1.8 with 132-hp, both in cars with similar weight? What did you expect? BTW, there's no shame in being outrun while driving a stock 2.slow. It's like taking candy from a baby.

Yeah, I Just went back and looked at a video I took a while back with my digicam velcro'ed to the dash. Was turning left from a stop sign so not including the first 20 feet or so, it was 8.5 seconds until the limiter in 2nd.

I love driving the 5 speed, but am definetly goign to finish the vr swap because im often ... too often reminded of how slow my car is. Feels good to stomp on it throught the gears. I raced my friends integra when i first got it, was winning till i realized he didnt know how to shift. Talk about 20mph in 4th gear... I can beat his miata i think.

Converting the 2.0 to 16v or any other head can have some pretty good outcomes. But the same money can have a vrswap. Just waiting to get some more money to dump into the engine i have sitting on the ground in my garage.

This thread is funny. Yes the 2.0 is slow as hell but given enough room it will be within arrestable speeds. It even has a speed limiter- don't ask.

A while back, I hooked up VAG-COM and played around with the acceleration. Here is the data it returned. I wouldn't call it accurate, but it is pretty good and will give you an idea.
