Does UM offer this option with their tune?

Yes, if you don't hear the SAI run on cold start you would already have this in your UM tune.

Is this why the engine doesn't idle a little high on cold starts like it does with stock software?

I'll double check but I guess mine has been coded out too. That would be great the only thing stopping me from getting rid of the SAI was getting the car reflashed for it...

Is there a way to check it with vag-com?

Not sure, I guess you can try and run a test and if it doesn't turn on you have it programmed out.

Thinking about this! Two questions, can you get these "raw" (not anodized)? Why is shipping so much?

Sorry they only come in red anodize. As for shipping, what is the website quoting you? Sometimes the shipping companies charge odd prices... But not much we can do about that. Sorry.

Shoot, I was hoping to just have a polished one. It was quoting me like $14 for shipping....I just figured for a small part like this it could go in a $5 flat rate usps box

^ What else do you need...it comes with the plate, bolts, gasket, and hose barb. I believe all you do is connect the heater core hose to the barb (Just like on the factory unit)

Odds are you won't need resistors if you have the correct tune.

Okay, here is what I don't understand about this:

head > Combi Valve > SAI pump > Air filter

What hose connects to this block off plate?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jeremy

I'm pretty sure its just a coolant hose that goes to the heater core....

    Thanks Cspense,
I looked in the Bently again and now see that the flange for the combi valve also services a coolant hose.

5% caustic (sodium hydroxide) and 95% H2O (water) in a bath heated no less than 140 degrees for 3 minutes. Cooler temps require more minutes. I think you can buy this stuff at Lowes.

This ties into recent conversations in your build thread about keepin the car lookin good . I've been on a cleaning, polishing kick lately and would rather have this polished than anodized red...just my preference (So it matches the Jcaps, polished valve cover, polished charger when it arrives )...its not like you can even really see it, but it would bug me lol

I will have to try this as well. I have some AN fittings on a oil line breather that are anodized and I think they look ugly, would love to have them raw.
