Just picked up a new camera, so here are a couple quick new snaps. I added the new oem chrome strips upper and lower in the front, and a new rear upper. The rear lower is the one that was on the car when I bought it and is still in decent enough shape. I also, bought a second set of tails from the junkyard and make my own all reds using testors candy apple red and clear paint from a local hobby store. There was plenty of wetsanding, masking and buffing involved to get them to look this haha.

I ordered em from ecs, there is a thread a few pages back about it. But here is the information you need. I was told you can use the lower front in the rear, so I ordered two. Although I didn't even bother installing that one on my car as that was the only decent chrome strip on the car haha. So, I just put that strip on the shelf for another day.

Spent a good chunk of the afternoon messing around with this, my roommates '77 Datsun 280z. He got it with the head and just about everything else sitting in the trunk

Not yet, I just bought my car about 2 weeks ago and it was in need of some TLC. I'm trying to get her ready for the Crosshaul Cruise in May

They are decent. I definitely am glad I spent the extra $40 or so over racelands or rokkors I think they are noticeably better. One friend who has racelands after riding in my car numerous times said he was thinking about "upgrading" to ultimos hahaha. That being said they obviously dont ride as good as some other coilovers that cost 2x-4x as much.

Haha, I have all sorts of plans! But, seeing as how I am currently out of a job basically none them are going to come into fruition anytime soon. That being said I have a few parts sitting on the shelf waiting to be installed. I've been sitting on a raceland header for quite a while now. A friend also gave me a TT 268 cam(I'd really like a 276 but I'm not gonna complain) some brand new springs, and basically new lifters as well as a g60 valve cover. I've been procrastinating putting all of this stuff on, but I should hopefully have it all on soon.

As for my long term "dreams" some new paint would be nice, the pictures hide many of this cars defects. I've been playing with the idea of a false floor. A ce2/aba swap would be really nice as well.

Oh, and that 280z that I posted a photo of. Well we got that running this past weekend. Here is a clip of it with just a header.

They will come off when I get money for paint/bodywork. At the moment they they are covering up a couple dents on the driver side rear arch.

Thanks for the comments guys! Not a whole lot has changed, but I do have a few little things in the works here is a picture of what I'm working with at the moment.

My friend Mike(84MK1RabbitGTI) and I got to work with his new powder coating setup on an old g60 valve cover that he wasn't using anymore. What you are looking at is a transparent copper powder being sprayed over a gloss black base. The 2 horizontal lines and the VW emblem were taped off with a special high temp tape( which isn't kind of a pain to work with). The taped edges were a bit harsh for my taste so instead of polishing the remaining raw aluminum we attempted to spray a chrome powder on those areas instead, this didn't exactly fix the problem So we are currently figuring out the next plan of attack...

Once we get this figure out though. I will install it along with a cleaned up big valve head with new TT springs, lifters and 266 cam. As well as a raceland header that I have had sitting around for quite some time now.

Yah haha. My last job I was an appliance installed assistant so I was able to get my friend a perfectly good
oven for $10! Other than that besides the eastwood setup he picked up the big red harbor freight enclosed sandblaster. It gets the job done but it's pretty garbage. It leaks media out of very single crevice like it was built for that purpose haha.

      thanks!

Not much of an update really, but my car wasn't really in love with the flares/door moldings. I know this because it decided to eject the front driver side flare mid-drive. After a couple weeks I couldn't find a replacement so I just decided to get rid of it all

I picked up a GTI spoiler today form the junkyard for $8. Cut the 3 posts off of it and stuck it to my windshield with some 3m tape.

So here is how it sits at the moment. Tomorrow I start a new job that pays better than any job I've ever had before, so hopefully I can start following though with a few more of my plans!

I'm currenty gasket matching a head my friend had laying around his house. It's a big valve head, so it should be a moderate upgrade(probably won't notice haha) to the head in my car now. Gonna bring it to a shop to get re-surfaced and steam cleaned hopefully on tuesday. I'd like to have it in my car and all done in a weeks time. More updates to come shortly!

I posted a photo months ago of my G60 valve cover being powdercoated, it didn't come out quite as expected so we are re-doing it. The plan is wrinkle black, but now I'm thinking maybeee wrinkle red? Anyone have thoughts on this?

Also, 4 or so months ago I posted a photo of my roommates datsun, well MANY changes later it finally moves, still needs some stuff but it's not looking to shabby.

Some progress has been made, not as quickly as I hoped but progress nonetheless...

      New TT springs

Not so new TT 268 cam(or so research tells me... haha) and Cam Gear

And my freshly resurface head and valves that I cleaned all the crud off of.

      More to come soon!
