Well in September I picked up a BMP 20th GTI. Had a mere 69K miles.
Her is what she looked like then:
My first plans were to get rid of the pink headlights and pink roof. Well they kind of got put on hold when the trans broke the third gear fork. So apart she came.
And well today I just got her back on the road after sitting for about 4.5 months. I have sold the Pink headlights and picked up a set of these:
not these exact ones but ones very similar.
Current project now that she is fixed is, redoing the hood, and re painting the roof. Once those are done I can start to work on the other little things that need to be fixed. I only have about 4 weeks to do everything since the car will be getting shipped to Italy. Why Italy? I am in the Army and just got orders there. I can't wait.
Current plans other than the roof are:
-get 225/40/18 tires
-get an alignment
-raise the rear up for shipping (front is already raised)
-Fix the intercooler piping
-Start saving money for air
-start saving money for better wheels
-Get the driver side Recaro fixed
-pick up an unmolested Front bumper and 20th lip
-Get a muffler with a single 3.5 inch tip instead of the dual 3 inch jetta tip
-Take off the crappy tint
-Hope to god the tranny holds up.

Forgot one of the best parts. I sold the pink lights (Stock GTI lights w/ fogs btw) for 75 bucks, with no bulbs and no wiring. I mean completely gutted. Being so close to Mexico has it's advantages haha.

Update 2/19/2012
I got my new headlights. To be exact they are Depo 25th Anny Replica Smoked Glass E Code Lights.
So I go to put them in and the Pass. side lo-beam doesn't want to work. The headlights I had borrowed from my buddy had the same problem. I tried three different H7 bulbs to no avail. Also I think it might be the connector since the fog was flickering and when I jiggled the connector and pushed it in harder it turned on. And now after fiddling with them for about 45 minutes neither fog wants to turn on but the Driver side lo-beam still does. I am going to run to the store tomorrow to get brand new H7's for lows, H5's, and H1's. I already have 194's for the City lights.
Any thoughts on why the lights arent working properly? I already read it could be the fuses (which I will check tomorrow since I got off work about an hour ago) or the ignition switch.

Well one of my buddies kinda talked me into doing something when I get to Italy. Here is a list:
-Full RHD Conversion
-Full Euro Bumpers and Lips
-Full S3 driveline
-Euro .:R Recaros
-At least a brake upgrade to .:R brakes
-For the air (Bagyard Bomber front/rear Bags, Accuair V2 management, Two Viair 444cc compressors, 1/2 inch lines, modified rear beam (for moar lowz)
Anyone got anything else to add to the list.

Gonna be part of my new set up once I get to Italy. Hood should be done soon. I am getting tired of stupid people telling me it's messed up.

Sized for me to go really really low without rubbing. Someone might know what they are off of. They do not require adapters.

I got some new wheels. And like like beaches:
I didnt like the LM Reps, they were crappy, with crappy tires. Traded them for these almost perfect condition Long Beaches with new tires. Makes me think I should have done it sooner. 225/45/17's ride a lot better than the 215/35/18 on a 8.5.
But the project this weekend is the hood, and fixing the hatch. I can only open it with the key, that little electric motor broke.

UPDATE
Hood has been almost completely stripped. Just need to sand it all down, re-weld the boser. Get some Filler, some primer and the surprise shouldn't be to far away. I think I am just going to take leave here in El Paso or not take any at all, so that I can get my car completely done before she has to be shipped to Italy.

Update-ish
Did the rear brakes. Got the Zimmerman/Mintex Red kit from ECS. Lets just say that it is time to replace the crappy Duralast pads the P.O. put in the front. You can really tell the rear brakes have more bite than the front do.
I have yet to do anything with the hood. I am really lazy and the Army life just makes me want to be lazy when I get off work.
But next project is going to be fix all the little problems in the interior and give a nice scrub, like seats out of the car clean and scrub. Then take a buffer to the paint. I hate seeing the pretty BMP all covered in swirls and scratches.
