Bump for you, ridiculously clean. When you titled it under the 4 door golf did you swap vin tags or does it still retain the originals?

    Thanks, Ben

    Ben,

It retains the original VIN tag under the hood on the passenger side apron and the stamped VIN on the rain tray (both are places the DMV & insurance adjusters don't look). This car never had a VIN tag on the dash or in the driver side door jam. I have a Mk2 VIN tag that has been etched to match the VIN of the 4 door title. Technically, "swapping" VIN's is illegal so I think this is a nice gray area that would only come into play if the car were in an accident. Other than that, fooling a DMV worker during an out-of-state inspection isn't rocket science. Officially, the car was imported for "off-road use only."

Lovely ride. The VW Golf Country is still a rare sight, even in the Fatherland.

I would trade both my running MK2 8v and MK3 VR6 with rebuilt motor (An accumulated $10k) for this! No bull****.

    But this:
Trades: The only trade I’ll consider will be a Mk3 Golf or Jetta with cut springs, steelies, and a rusted hood. If you have this I’ll give you this car plus $5,000. Thanks for looking.
    Makes it sound very illegitimate.

It's just a little friendly sarcasm. I'm not really interested in trades, I just wanted to avoid the younger crowd offering me their everyday beater. I'm sure if you've been on the 'tex very long you understand. Thank you for the bump.

wow admitting to VIN fraud openly?
    you really are stupid

i hope for your sake no one forwards this to the feds or you will no longer have a car or your freedom

FYI to any buyers, this car is illegal in every state

I wouldnt normally do this, but you are acting like it is no big deal, when it clearly is

I think you're mistaken, Homeslice. But you're obviously the resident expert on Vortex so I won't bother arguing with you. Please substantiate your claim ...

So how is this car registered? Swap VIN from a black 1992 4 dr. Golf GL?

And, that guy is an expert. Search his posts. Had some trouble legalizing a Golf Rallye.

Who are you, and why do you think people care about what your opinion? You're obviously ignorant because I've explained several times that this car hasn't been VIN swapped. Not sure how much more cut and dry I can make it.

Again, you want a Country and you can't have the best example currently available for sale. So, you decide to be an internets crusader and try to trash my FS thread. I find two things very interesting. 1- You feel the need to keep posting in MY thread where it's obvious nobody cares about your opinion. And, 2-You claim that Ali's Country is cleaner than mine despite you never seeing this car in person (which I would LOVE to show you). Not that I care. Maybe his is cleaner than mine, that's not why I'm here. But that's a pretty ignorant statement considering the facts. Also, since you're so g@y for Ali, why not just go back to performing phallacio on him while drooling over his car?

He's just a guy that had a Rallye here in the USA that was imported improperly without his knowledge and the feds came looking for it to destroy it.

Yes, there are people working for the federal government who do nothing but find illegally imported cars....they find them, you have to surrender the car, and they crush it.

He had to surrender the car and one beautiful Rallye Golf ended up like this....

    Before:

    After:

I'm well aware of his story. He's bitter and he wants to see others suffer the same as he did. Simple as that. It's unfortunate he doesn't have something better to live for.
