I have a stupid question(s) about the dash bulbs. Let me preface this by saying that I've never even removed a dash cluster from a fox/replaced any of the bulbs: is changing the color of the light as simple as changing the color of the bulb? If so, has anyone tried the amber or red dash bulbs? My 88 Fox has a 90s Blaupunkt tape deck with amber-ish display and my 93 Fox has an aftermarket tach with red display so I might change the other dash lights over accordingly to match, hence my question. Thanks for any help!

There is a thin plastic diffuse strip that is green - you'd have to take that out if you don't want a puke colored dash. It requires you to take a section off the cluster that isn't meant to come apart. It's plastic bonded. But, with a sharp blade or some other thin tool - you can brake them. I tried on a spare cluster first to get used to it - but it wasn't so hard once I figured out where to pry.

Oh - and then just krazy glue that section back on. I put a clear diffuse in - but if/when I ever pull it again I'm just going to remove it. I was afraid the LEDs would be too bright or distracting. But - it could be brighter. I used the bulbs in my original post on this thread. No need to mod them at all.

IIRC this was the only bulb that was only available from VW.

I'm going to try replacing it with a 3710-CWHP3
The HP High Power bulb is over kill in the glove box.
Though I can now see things at the bottom of the glove box, quite a bit of squinting is involved.
