I know Dana used to hint that changing the country code would affect the radio's behavior after it was turned off. But we never got any particulars.

Yep, altering country codes in some vehicles will cause serious problems ... and in others like my 2010 Golf Gti only the units (KM/Miles, C/F temp, etc.) need to be tweaked back to my preferences. Modifying the coding to the incorrect country is never advised, but in my case RoW seems to work well and the radio does not shut off until the key is removed from the ignition - which is the proper/conventional S-Contact way ... up until the point that VW changed this

So it sounds like this is not adjustable via VCDS then? Is this an issue with the radio (37/56), Central Electronics (09) or Instruments (17)?

I though I read on some forum some time ago that the "radio off when ignition switched off" problem resides in the radio coding and not Central Electronics.

This does not seem to be an issue, rather a newer scheme VW introduced in 2010 NAR vehicles. If tweaking the cluster coding did not resolve the concern - then I am not aware of an way to alter this behavior with any scan tool.

The Premium 8 / RNS-510 modules do not have a coding or adaptation bit related to the S-contact operation and I am not aware of any similar tweaks for the 09/BCM either.

Tried changing the country code on the cluster in my Golf today. No Joy. I updated this post with my findings. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...1#post77361675
