seems something is up with the garages being too small at COTA. lots of upset F1 folks on twitter.

i haven't seen a release or article yet, but it's all over twitter - so take that for what it's worth.

Like cars don't fit too small, or not as much room as they want to small? They built COTA on the most undesirable land in Austin haha, should have had plenty of room.

appparently they were not built up to the code. i don't know how they could get it wrong. unless they converted wrong from centimeters to inches.

it came from twitter so i'm unsure. it's a very loose statement though, especially considering the track was "cleared" earlier this week.

No kidding! I tend to really like Kimi Raiikikiekneneknenkenen...but he rather pissed me off when he cut Alonso's tire. What was even more frustrating were the dipsticks on Speed Channel that failed to see the incident (and clearly the piece of Kimi's front wing break off after hitting Alonso), and making statements about how flabbergasted they were that Alonso "spun on his own". It was pretty obvious that Raikkonen got into the back of him. That's two races that Alonso has been taken out on the first turn or first lap and not been able to get any points. Disappointing!

i gotta say i think that was mostly alonso's fault, kimi was alongside and easily visable in his mirrors and got squeezed off the track for no good reason. once you get on the grass like that, especially coming into a braking zone, you arent going to have much control when youre getting back on the track. certainly not enough fault to deserve a dnf but whatcha gonna do.

also, ive said this a million times in this thread, god i hate speed. if youre looking for other ways to watch it that arent commentated by idiots and dont have commercial breaks send me a pm.

yeah its a miracle nobody got hurt in that. idk why they dont have a single roll bar out in front and above the drivers head. seems like a simple compromise between safety and traditional open wheel f1. the topic has been discussed at some length here

i suppose its only a matter of time before they have canopies

I tend to agree with you...it probably wasn't solely Kimi's fault. I am just being a little brat about it because the situation pissed me off. Happy for Massa though! Most of the time I enjoy David Hobbs and Steve Matchett's perspective and experience...albeit, I have never been able to hear any other commentator's perspectives since Speed is my only option...

Oh well, we won't be watching it on Speed anymore here in the US.

Likely to be on NBC Sports Channel now (nee Versus, nee OLN) and likely to be tape delayed. I just hope they re-hire the whole crew of 4 broadcasters; unlike a lot of the online pundits, I like the way they work together and cover races. And if I can't have James Hunt do the commentary , then they are the 2nd best option, IMHO

I wonder if anyone will adopt the reverse flow head design like the R18 TDI, with the exhaust out between the banks.....
