Dr. Chill, SoWo is the largest group of VW/Audi enthusiast meet in North GA. I have never been either, but i plan on going this year. I have heard good things!

Lights look great however they don't play well with my led license plate lights. When I tapped into that wire they were good for a few mins then flickered and went out. I will be looking into this in case any of you have the LEDs. Not a blown fuse because l already checked that hopefully I just have to replace them with the stock bulbs and it will work again.

curious as to how you tinted your tails and if you have any pictures. Not interested in purchasing but am toying with the idea of having the led tails spray tinted to resemble more of the mkv/mkvi r32 tails.

I have seen laminix and i like the lightest tinted film, but it doesn't quite have the look I am going for.

Well, that sucks. Was there any external damage on the box? Tell me if it affects the install. If it does, then we'll have to figure something out.

I can take some pictures. Was pretty easy I taped over the clear reverse light area to keep it nice and clear and then scuffed the whole light (while off the car) with like those green pot scrubber things. Then I used Nite Shade to spray a few coats on them making it a few shades darker than I wanted ( it was getting close to black when it was done). Then I put them back on the car. Gave them like a day to dry up and used a buffer and polish to smooth it out, make it nice and shiny, and to lighten it to the shade I wanted. I'm probably going to do the same for these cuz I just think they look way too red in my white car so I'll post a quick DIY on how I did it. With pictures.

edit: So after going back and re-reading, seems I only need a dongle if I DO NOT have access to VAG com? If I do, do these come with everything I need?

This is how dark I sprayed it so I could buff it to a lighter shade. I like the dark but I had it dark on my other car and some skank hit me on a really sunny day and the sun was just at a bad angle and she was saying she couldn't see my light and kinda screwed me over so I'm trying to avoid that now.


This is how I was spraying it. I think I did 8 coats. This stuff goes on pretty light.


This is kinda how it turned out after buffing. The lighting is bad in this picture but I thought it looked pretty good. Wish I had better pics but just never really thought to take some before I swapped them out.

Was looking at the last GB thread and someone there had a broken tab too. The light installed fine because the tab apparently only holds wires and does not secure the light to the body.

Regardless, I submitted a claim with FEDEX since it looked from the pics you sent me that the box was somewhat crushed. How did your install go?

Installed and coded my set today. Took under 1 hour start to finish. Pics later. The broken tab is a non issue as it only holds the wiring harness and has no bearing on mounting.
