"Ya know, I don't get it. I'm not allowed to ask a Chinese person where a Chinese restaurant is? I mean, aren't we all getting a little too sensitive? I mean, somebody asks me which way is Israel, I don't fly off the handle."
    - Jerry, in "The Cigar Store Indian"
In light of the recent Lin inspired (or 'Linspired') firings, I thought this would be appropriate

Looking at last year's league, it looks like the below 10 teams were the only active ones. 2 other teams, like usual, didn't put in effort or make more than 1 roster move all year. What's everyone's thoughts on playing 10? Is it worth it to add another two teams that may/may not play?

Should we change the league to a keeper having only 10 teams? Should we add some sort of reward for winning (Is that allowed)? I'm open to suggestions on anything. Cheers for a new year, new season!

I like 12 team leagues cause I think it forces you to dig a little deeper to build a roster. I suppose we could just add another OF, a 1B/3B and a 2B/SS to get some more depth, too.

If folks want to move to a keeper format of some sort and throw a reasonable ($25ish) amount of money in for prizes, I'm down for that. I don't need either keepers or a prize to make me want to stick with the league, though.

TL;DR: I'm in. Changes are fine as long as they're reasonable. Good luck to everyone.

If there's only 10 of us that are active, keep it at 10. It seems like every year we go through this and we end up with deadbeat owners.

The champ is in! We seem to always have issues getting 12 to play. Im prefer 12... But im cool w 10. That said, we would need to increase rosters if we do 10, I think

10 active teams seems like the way to go.

As far as expanding the rosters, we could add one, maybe 2 spots....that'd be ok with me.

Keepers are OK with me too....whatever the group decides on this is fine by me, no preference either way.

Looking forward to another good season!!

I like 12 teams too, but like Motown said, every year we pick up a new #11 and #12 and they do nothing. It's basically 10 teams playing anyway. Maybe a league fee of $10-$20 would make it worth their time?

I'm fine either way. I think that 12 teams would be better as it would make everyone dig a little deeper during the draft and throughout the year in regards to free agency but who knows if the two new owners will even be committed. And I'm fine also with keeping at 10.

As far as keepers go I can go either way. I'm cool with whatever the league wants as a majority.

I say keep it at 10. The problem is always getting everyone to participate and we know this group of 10 will put some effort in. If we can get 2 more that would definitely do it, then that'd be fine.

Keepers: I love keepers b/c it's a good way to keep people who are out of it involved. It sucks when you got the last place team with Pujols and Verlander and they haven't updated their roster in 6 weeks. It'd be cool to be able to be like "Bryce Harper and Mike Trout for Pujols!". Keeps things interesting and gives even the worst teams something to play for.

We'd just need to establish the rules before hand ---- set # (ie, everyone keeps 5)? Sliding scale (ie, you win you get to keep 3, last place you keep 10, etc).

Money: I'd be fine with that, as long as it's a pretty small amount just to keep things interesting and make sure people don't just give up after week 3 when they realize it takes effort. Like $10-$25 each? Something like season winner gets 50%, 1st place playoffs get 25%, 2nd place playoffs gets 15%, 3rd place playoffs 10%?

    10 teams (shrinkage)
    Expand rosters
    20 bucks per team
    5 standard keepers

10 teams, roster expansions (2 players is probably cool), 5 keepers is all solid, but$20??!?!??! Maybe you guys forgot, but I live in the D. Everyone is broke as f**k here.

j/k... $20 is fine. Does this mean I have to get a PayPal account now or can I drop a check in the mail? Maybe I can get Jerry to put on Newman's USPS uniform and deliver it on a Sunday?

I'd be hoping a check is okay... because I dont feel like setting up a pay pal. Im fine with it staying "for fun" too though. The money thing should really be the league managers call since he'll have to deal w/ any potential hassels (just dont cash my check til nect week )

I agree....the non-cash aspect made this league fun. If that is the direction and discretion of the league manager, then we do that. It'll be more admin work though, obviosuly.

We may not have to use cash as an incentive to keep guys active if we're getting rid of the dead weight in the league anyway. I think all of us have proven over the years that we'll play and stay active for fun.

There is nothing worse than having to pester people for money. Hate doing it when I've run football leagues in the past.

So who'd taking Braun in the first round?

No thank you......Selig and Co. are pissed. This ain't over.....I have a feeling Braun will be getting a surprise test or two when he least expects it.

In other non-baseball news.....an unrelated google search brought up this site....check the "summary" for VWVortex.....lol

Did everyone here get an invite now? I pretty much stuck to basic settings, draft on a Wednesday, 3/21 @ 9p. EST. I honestly don't recall what nights worked/didn't work for everyone, so let me know if we need to change it.

Any rule changes/suggestions, let me know too.

I got the E-mail and when I clicked the link in the E-mail I got this:

"There is not room in this league if all teams from last year return. If you were invited to take over an existing team, please click the link in the email you received to join the league. To create a brand new team, get the commissioner to increase the maximum number of teams, or remove teams that will not be returning. (Error #638)"
