My buddy will take the team. He's a big baseball fan and will be an active manager. Maybe I can even get him to buy a VW

How many of you guys still have a VW? I do, but haven't been impressed with the changes they've been making in recent years. I feel like the latest models are all beginning to look the same, and I'm not a big fan of the previous individual options being turned into a few pre-packaged trim levels.

I just got back into one after 2 years. Its a 2002 Passat W8, one owner, 60K miles that my wife found online. Definitely glad I bought it.

The new stuff is bland unless you are getting a GTi. Even the new GLi is blah.

I feel like they lost their idendity somewhere around the B5/B6 Passat... after that, I havent been a big fan.

Last "VW" I had was a B6 A4. Loved that damn car...even w/ its bad coil packs.

Drive a civic now... because I came to the realization that my daily driver for my 30mi each way commute should be the cheapest, most reliable, least reconizable and best on gas car I could find. When I bank enough cash... I want a Sunday car that I will baby. I havent washed my car in 6 months. LOL

I did this same thing nearly 10 years ago --- went from a B5 A4 to a leased Civic Si when I went back to grad school and had to be able to exactly budget my tiny little stipend, yet have a reliable daily driver with good gas mileage that I could pack full of stuff when moving.

The plan was to dump it within a year of finishing school and working. Ten years later, I haven't found a good enough justification to get rid of it (my wife has gone through 4 cars in that time ). And I still haven't washed it

Birds of a feather? I leased an Eos for awhile. When that was up, I bought my sister in law's 2002 Accord with 135k miles on it. I'm back in a manual transmission, and it's perfect for driving around the city. Someday I'll get a toy, but this car works great for now. If I were to get a new VW, I'd probably want a TDI Jetta wagon, but even that impulse is pretty minimal.

Also, I've recently developed a Monday evening conflict that means I'll miss the draft. I just spent about an hour pre-ranking, so hopefully my team won't suck too bad. Or I'll wind up with 6 catchers.

I still have a passion for cars... Just not my own.

Looks like my friend is registered and I think he may have trumped all of our team names

I may be a little late to the draft. I'm off work at 5 and it takes about 40-45 minutes to get home. Hopefully the traffic is light.

What time will the draft order be revealed?

Dammit, I had some "simple" after hours work at one of our sites around 8:15p and never made it back in time. It was supposed to be in and out I'm afraid to even check my roster...

For having auto drafted, I really like my roster. I am really deep at 1st and 3rd, so I'll take offers for pitching.

WTF autodraft? Mine did the same thing. I have a ton of offense, no pitching depth Looks like I'll be hitting the trade market as well.

In a 10 team mixed league, I'm not big on paying a lot for pitching. Guys always emerge during the season that you can pick up, especially for streaming H2H. However, I am troubled that I seem to have only one closer, so that needs to change.

I got Lance Berkman in the 9th, which is around when the closers started to go. So maybe a top 5 closer and a lesser closer for Berkman and one of my lesser but still decent starters like Ryan Dempster.

I have pitching depth... but Im weak at 2nd and SS. Though I love Kipnis and think he can be a monster if he plays a full year.

Since LB was excited about his staff, I thought I'd open it for debate

    World Champion Gortex Vortex:
SP: Kershaw, Hamels, Price, Romero, Fister, Bucholz, Zambrano
RP: Axford, Bell, Hanrahan, Capps, Johnson, Venters

    CostanzAs:
SP: Verlander, CC, Strasburg, J Johnson, Feliz, Jurjens, Jarrod "Krypton" Parker, Drew Pomeranz
    RP: Mo, Brian Wilson, Nathan
    1 3 4 5 7 8 8 9 10 15 16 23 32 37 42 44 49

The CostanzA's have a nice staff there. I'm pretty OK with mine:

SP: Lee, Haren, Gallardo, Hellickson, Nova, Darvish, McCarthy, Cahill
    RP: Valverde, F. Cordero

If some of those back-of-the-rotation guys step up it'd be nice.

Your staff is almost as powerful as mine, beng. I just think Verlander and Sabathia are as guaranteed as it gets. Josh Johnson and Strasburg could be unbelievable as my 3 and 4 if they are healthy.

Motown, that's a great stable of SP.

I thought I was weak at RP. But it seems like some of you only have 2 or 3 closers.

I like where Motown goy Darvish, that was a good pick

Im all about Toronto this year. Reached for Lawrie... hope he has a monster year.

Keep bragging about your pitching depth, guys. Let's see if those rosters of yours don't accidentally get locked

2 closers should be more than fine for a H2H league... if it was roto I'd definitely have grabbed a 3rd. Problem is, after the elite and almost-there closers, it seems like a reach to me to grab a 3rd one in this draft, simply because you can get another decent bat or a SP who can win 12-14 games with that same pick.

Let's just hope he's as advertised... my cable system doesn't carry Nippon League games so I'm going strictly on hype.

I'll jump on the Volkswagen talk bandwagon... I had an '01 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta from '03-'11 and had a love hate relationship. It needed a TON work to even pass smog so I ended up taking it to Car Max and being offered $2,500 for it! I took that and we used it as part of a downpayment on a brand new Ford Fiesta for the girlfriend and I took her 2000 Plmymouth Neon.

But I'm happy with my staff (Giggity!) Jered Weaver, Felix Hernandex, C.J. Wilson, Josh Beckett.
