I'm new to the PNW and this year will be my first time attending Leavenworth Drive. I was looking for some experienced opinions on places to stay and/or places to avoid staying at in Leavenworth.

I'm really looking forward to the experience and also looking forward to meeting some more PNW dubbers!

    I'll probably drive this:

I've been going for more years than I can remember, and most of those times I have stayed at the Howard Johnson. Decent place, just a short walk from 'downtown'. I've also stayed right next door to the HoJo at what used to be the Quality Inn (I think?) a couple of times... anyway, that place is under a new name and new management now so I don't know if it remains a good suggestion or not.

Last year I waited until the last moment and could only find a room a little farther out, at the 'Best Western Icicle Inn', which was very nice indeed.

Note that one thing you will run in to when looking to book rooms is that a lot of places have a "two night minimum" during the 'on' season. But it can vary depending on how far out you are looking to book, or whether you are doing it online or in person, etc. Can be frustrating, though!

Thanks folks...Well that's two solid votes for the Howard Johnson I think I'll probably do that. I was previously living in the Southeast and MidWest so I've attended SoWo for the last four years but this show seems to have a similar theme. I'm really looking forward to it!

With the two night minimum do most people stay in Leavenworth Friday and Saturday night potentially missing the actual "drive" from Bellevue or do they stay Saturday and Sunday night?

Goose creek campground is only a few miles away and there is the Cove at fish lake too. The cool part is there is a back road that takes you right to Leavy.

When is the Leavenworth Drive supposed to be? I'm hoping to have my Jetta back in a driveable condition to attend.

Last year I stayed in Wenatchee. It's a short drive on a brand new lie friendly highway. Was a great way to add a little extra drive. but I'll be 21 this year so I gotta stay in town and party haha

I see you're in Lakewood. Does anyone typically organize a cruise from the Tacoma area to Bellevue?

I would definitely like to join a cruise on the way to Bellevue also. I'll keep a look out for threads as the event draws closer.

Anyone else want to chime in on where they are staying or any other related Leavenworth Drive noob info?

I live in yelm, not far from Lakehood.. I mean Lakewood. I been up there a few times before so I'm willing to lead the way if anyone is completely lost.

Also, anyone willing on splitting the cost of a hotel room? I'll sleep on the floor, which is good cause I'll be to drunk to care.

Generally people meet at Krispy kream in Tacoma then cruise up. But you better believe....dumped status faction will be cruising low and slow all the way up and anyone wanting to cruise with us will be welcome. Meet spot is undecided for us as of now. And Wenatchee kicks ass, nice drive, not busy, hotels will allow 1 night. At least mine did last year

Yeah I'm down to split the cost of a room, send me a PM and we'll work out splitting the cost. Just have me added onto registry so I can get a key as well.

There are some Cabins we stayed at last year right on the river that were pretty awesome. But I believe they were a two night stay so we did Saturday and Sunday night. Then again we are coming from a lot further away.

For camping I'd recommend you avoid the Alpine View RV park, since It's right on HWY 2. There's a bunch of campgrounds down Icicle RD that are run by the Forest service. Super cheap (under $20) but no elec and only drop toilets (outhouse). I'll be camping with quite a few people there.

WELCOME! every cruise and oktoberfest i've stayed at Der Riterhoff. decent rooms (found blood on teh mattress), there's a pool/hot tub, and a giant suit of armor to climb when youre drunk!
also the desk workers are awesome. one of the ladies made sure we knew she didnt care if we smoked weed (nobody did )

pricing is about what you'd expect. i wanna say it was a little over $100 for a two bed room. (per night)

    hope to see ya there
