Got all parts required for the fog light kit install, sorry i opened a new post but i searched and the other one about it is nowhere to be found, my question is: Is there a part number for the harness yet or do we have to keep waiting???, anyone has any idea?, thanks in advance!

    2. 02-21-2012 09:34 PM #2
Still no harness, I beleive the last ETA was March. I am waiting on it as well. Installed the fogs without wiring them up, just cause they look good! haha

I couldnt wait so i didn`t took pics of the pieces or install, but here are the results, it took me 15 min and it is probablly the stupidest easiest thing i have ever done to a car

Now i can`t wait for the harness part number!!!

Here is a list of all parts needed....

Harness is still not available, I am trying to get an updated ETA on that. All other parts are in stock and ready to ship. Fog light parts (excluding harness and Euro switch) sell for $258.12 plus shipping. Total with switch and harness (when it becomes available) $454.92.

      Harness $115.00
      Euro Switch $79.20
      LH Foglamp $71.28
      RH Foglamp $71.28
      LH Fog Bracket $17.70
      RH Fog Bracket $17.70
      LH Fog Grille $39.60
      RH Fog Grille $39.60
Mounting Screws (Qty 4) $0.24 EACH

Can you keep us posted when you receive the harness .
Euro switch? does this mean we need to run wires?
Is this install simple enough to do by an old shade tree mechanic .
Will definately be purchasing the kit when all parts are available

It needs complete wiring(harness), ecu tweaks (steering wheel angle sensor calibration), as soon as i have a harness the stealership will take care of it

There is some coding needed from a Dealer or if you have Vag-com. I can send you a PDF file of the instructions if you send me your email.

Bud...can you send me the install .pdf? I'm a total novice, but interested to see if i could hack it. phat7deuce@yahoo.com

It looks like its pretty easy for you to get all of the parts (minus the harness). Do you know if this harness would work or is it meant for the Euro passat...

I emailed Kufatec to find out about the harness, this is what I sent:

      Hello,

I see this part has been added recently (Fog Light Wiring - Harness - VW
Passat B7; Product Number: 38369). *Do you know if it's intended for the US
Version NMS Passat (vs the Euro version)?

If it is intended for the US version, will it work just like OEM (including
preserving Coming Home lights, etc.)? *Is there install documentation
      provided?

      Thanks,
      Mike

      This was their response:

      Hello Mike,
      * *This kit is designed to retrofit foglights, independent if you have
NAR or Euro version. *Kufatec GmbH does not have install documentation ready
at this point in time. *

Looks like it would work, now I need to decide, do I wait for the VW part or take a chance? Decisions...

I received my first backordered harness yesterday from an order I placed in November. I was told that inventory should be available early next week.

I've been looking at getting a Passat, have to have the lights but don't want to pay for all the other necessary options. Can you please tell me where you bought the kit, it fits very well and actually looks like OEM!! Thank you!

wiegmanc, that's because it's a OEM kit. It'd better look right!

I'm fessing up to being pretty poor on my forum etiquette. Sorry. I put a similar inquiry on separate post but I can see now that you guys have already explored almost exhaustively this subject:

      http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...emory-retrofit

But I have a few of questions which I still need guidance on:
1 - My parts guy at the dealership quoted me $899. Given the massive difference in price I assume he meant this includes labor? Regardless I'm struggling to find the prices that Bob listed. I'm finding prices about 10%+ more expensive and I can't find the grilles let alone the harness:

      Harness $115.00
      Euro Switch $79.20
      LH Foglamp $71.28
      RH Foglamp $71.28
      LH Fog Bracket $17.70
      RH Fog Bracket $17.70
      LH Fog Grille $39.60
      RH Fog Grille $39.60
Mounting Screws (Qty 4) $0.24 EACH
Perhaps someone can drop me a private message of where best to get parts.

2 - Browsing the various boards I got slightly conflicting information. Does this retrofit leave the cornering functionality disabled?

3 - Aside from the Vag-com part is this a simple installation someone could do over a weekend?

4 - Is OEM recommended for the bulbs? and if not what should I be looking for? Any H8-35W?
Perhaps 8500K or is yellow preferred for fog?:
      http://www.amazon.com/GP-Thunder-Pla...eywords=h8+35w

Also let me know if there was any tricky bits with the installation.

      Thanks

I got the kit from Bud at dean Mccrary imports through the board for $474 delivered. It had the VW instructions but the install wasn't that easy. The working space is very cramped and if you're not that familiar with electronic connectors, then that can be a problem........mine work, but I still have an idiot light showing bulb out when it isn't

Don´t know why they want to charge that amount, i got everything except the harness for something like 400 dlls, for example the euroswitch was the equivalent of 15 dlls...YES 15 bucks, guess some things are cheaper in Mexico, keep us posted and good luck, i´m sure you can have the parts for less

I got my fog light kit from VW of Riverside, but the switch is what I've seen for B6 Passats, which I've also seen referred to as the Euro switch (3 settings: Auto, parking lights, full on). Is this the right switch, or should it match the one found on a B7 Passat SEL with factory lights (with 2 settings: Auto, full on)? I don't like switch I got because you can't have Auto and the fog lights on at the same time. I love the auto lights, but want to run the fogs when they're on. Seems like I'm taking a step back in functionality. Thoughts? Did I get the wrong one? Should I just shut up and deal with it?

Has anybody had their dealer install these on an SE? I don't think anyone answered this below, but do the retrofitted fogs have the same cornering lighting feature as with the SEL?

I'm taking my SE in to get these installed next week. The cornering feature does NOT work with the retrofit, because you would apparently have to replace the BCM (I think that's it). Anyway, the whole electronics controller is unique for the SEL, which includes the cornering feature. It is not possible on the SE. I'm just happy to get a change in the looks and night visibility.

i wonder if it needs to be replaced or just pinned.

like when you put a euro switch in a mk6. to get the city lights to work you have to install a wire in the BCM or CCM not sure which one..
