Something doesn't have to be analogous in order to bring attention to the issue at hand.

I don't know why pro-life people think her POV is outrageous though. If someone wants to argue that life begins at conception, then it's not really a huge leap to argue that life begins at creation of sperm. Isn't it catholic church doctrine that you are only supposed to have sex for procreation anyway, and that you aren't supposed to 'waste' any of your seed?

      Garmin Is My Pilot.

I am confident you are wrong, but instead of illustrating why, I will just make disparaging remarks about your reading comprehension.

So if a male has no need/want for a child, he should not be allowed to get a vasectomy?

That view is in line with their thinking. That's birth control, and that's bad. Don't you know that birth control and abortion are the reason that Social Security will fail. That's according to Rick Sactorum, BTW.

Just one more reason that religion is destroying this country.

Ah yes. Bring attention to the entirely moral argument of sucking a ****ing live baby out of a womb with an Electrolux.

Because it is. And pro-choice is an utterly disgusting position to take. That abortion is even in political and public discourse is proof of the ****ing devolution of society and the abandonment of pretty much all logic and reason.

I'm going to allow you to rethink this.

Straw man. I've not mentioned the Catholic Church, or any religious angle for that matter. Do you naively think that people must be religious to think that sanctioning the murder of human life en masse is not such a great idea?

I will say that it does amuse me that pro-choice people are cool with killing unborn babies, but someone that kills living, breathing humans and faces death row, after receiving full due process rights, should not be killed.

      Full disclosure:

      I'm pro-choice and pro-death penalty.

In fairness to your post, the hypocrisy can swing both ways. Many/most pro-lifers are pro- state sanctioned execution.

      Full disclosure:

      I'm pro-life (including anti-death penalty).

I think the inverse at least makes more logical sense. People on death row received due process and the appeals process. Hypothetical humans did not get that chance.

To me, the only way that we can really reduce abortions in this country is for a cultural shift to happen. When there is enough pre and post natal support, more education about abortion and adoption is seen as an option, then the number of abortions will drop. The whole "let's make it illegal" thing is only creating more polarity and closing people off from the pro-life message.

I hate abortion. I think it's pretty awful. But I truly don't know that it's my business getting that intimately involved in someone's uterus.

Agreed, more people need to embrace birth control. That would reduce the amount of abortions performed drastically.
But until the religious fanatics decide that science is a good thing, we will have to deal with their stupidity casting a negative image on birth control.

      Apples to oranges, imo.

      But I appreciate the gesture.
