Picked it up today from an older retired gentleman. He was going to trade it in at the dealer last year when he bought a 2012 MB from them, but was highly offended by their trade in offer and treatment. He remembered that I told hime I liked the car a couple of years ago and offered it to me for a little less than half of their offer! All records are there, never missed a service...drives amazing. You give it the beans and it goes like stink. Am I crazy?

I don't mind saying $9,900.00. They offered him 20k, he thought it was an insult.

That's a smoking deal. Not crazy at all. Nice car.

Give us the details on this car that make it stand out from the plebeian models. I mean, aside from the twin snail V12.

Am I the only one that initially thought the thread title was "$600 Biturbo"?

Um for $10K I'd be writing a check as well Even if I'd go broke re-fueling it.

The only, and I mean only two defects I could find were: a TPMS light that you have to reset and the trim on the passenger's side door is missing. Only 2k if I have it fixed at the dealer!

It's way too much to take in all at once, this car has to be close to the pinnacle of anything MB has ever produced.

I did a little bit of due diligence, basically the local MB master mechanic a few more miles down the overseas highway said "Good luck it's got four too many cylinders!" But after reassurance from my good friend TwoLitreVW (who also said it has four too many cylinders), I wrote the check.

These are actually really good cars. Just keep up with the maintenance and keep an eye on leaks from the ABC Hydraulic lines.

There is a recall i believe for the one line that goes by the catalytic converter that may leak and cause a fire. No recalls for any other lines but they do like to leak. If the fluid level gets to low due to a leak you will get ABC faults on the cluster. The best is seeing these cars dance when bleeding the ABC system

We have a CL600 BiTurbo in stock right now, and I've been tempted. I drove it down the street to get photos taken, and it's addicting.

That being said, I probably wont do it.

It's a 2006 with 86k on the clock. He drove it on the Florida Turnpike to visit his Mother a couple times a week about 150 milies round trip and the occasional trip down South.

Wow, that's a really nice score.

So here's my question: what was the MSRP on this when new?

  21. 02-22-2012 09:50 PM #21
awesome. got to love the cantankerous old man with firm principles. (and the dough to make them stick!)

you might have to keep her for a while, though - his feelings might be rightfully hurt if you go and flip it!

of course, there are worse things in life than being "stuck" with a gilded chariot on a used hyundai budget!

    well played, sir. well played.

It has the AMG sport package and every other option available which puts it past 140k MSRP in 2006.

I'm going to check into getting a warranty if I can get anything to cover it til 110xxx for under five k I'll do it. As of right now I'll plan on 3-4k a year maint. and operating cost. This will not be a daily driver/beater.

That is an incredible price for a W220 S600. You got a great deal, start saving for the maintenance fun and since you only live once, do a chip, intake, and exhaust( 650hp+ 750TQ+)

If it had 300k, Vad's beater sense would have been tingling. He would have been there just in time to murder Basil and wear his flesh as a disguise.

At 86k, however, this car is far too fresh for him.

I'm farily certain that no carbon based life form ever touched the rear seats. Which is a big problem because I've got a five year old and an eight year old.

Incredible deal, pre-facelift W220 S430's still sell for that much around here! How could ANYONE say no to that deal - you definitely made the right choice pulling the trigger! Keep us posted on your ownership experience.

    $10k for that? Damn, that's a steal.

There's a guy with that same car (V12 and all) that used to show up at VIR with the Audi Club for track days. It was funny to see a tan S600 screaming down the front straight, but it did have that V12 howl. That guy told me he went through tires pretty quickly at VIR.
