Wheel/suspension advice

After doing some searches, hoping to get some specific advice.

Looking to buy a summer set and will likely go with the Avant Garde 310. Plan to wrap them with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The car is my DD and while I like to push it a lot, no plans to track. Live in the NE so the roads are far from perfect.

I plan to lower it a little -- to lose the gap, but don't want to worry about rubbing or rolling fenders.

So my questions:

The AG 310 come in 18 x 8/8.5/9 and a range of offsets from 35 to 48. Given my plans to drop it without running into issues, what would be the best spec (also want to avoid stretching tires)?

As far as dropping it to lose the gap, while Koni makes terrific coilovers and there are deals to be had now, not sure it's worth it given how small a drop I'm considering. Cupkit or springs might be a better choice, right? Again, it's my DD and while I like to push it, I also don't want it ride too harshly. Thoughts?

For anyone who has the AG 310, any issues clearing the brakes?

I was in the same boat as you. I decided to go with the H&R cup kit. It claims to have a level 1.5 inch drop all the way around. I am having them put on this weekend so I will post some before after pics if you would like. I chose this setup b/c I had koni yellows on my MKIV and don't need to go crazy low now, just something that looks a little better and wont bounce my kid all around when they are in the car with me. But the cup kit and a rear sway bar should do you just fine!

Also if I am not happy with the drop I can get the other set of springs that lower it even more.

I just did the H&R cupkit on my 11 and I'm super happy with it, the ride is a tad stiffer then stock. I have 18x8.5" offset 45 wheels on order and didn't want to deal with rubbing issues also, I'll keep you updated when I get them mounted.

Can you guys please post pics of all the "after" installs, maybe with a "before" shot as well? I just got my car a little over a week ago, and am very interested in a 'mild' drop, but with stock wheels (for now) and look to do something this summer.

congrats on the new ride. will share pics when I have them. sold my Detroits soon after buying in Nov. right now my winter 16's are on and I'm itching to at least get the summer set here if not on the car. even though not much snow this winter, would rather have the winters on with frequent freezing temps.

how long have you had them on there? is there a break in period after which they settle to a certain height? did you do the install? how tough is it?

About 10 days.
Just a small amount of settling, nothing crazy.
I think that's where they are going to stay.
I paid a shop for the install, friends with the owner so I got a good deal.

Ride is slightly stiffer then stock. I came from a MKIV with KW V2's and compared to the H&Rs that thing rode like a tank!!! I love the way the car rides with this setup, a perfect mix of stock and sport.

with such a slight drop ?? Im dropped very low on (Koni) coils and the ride is as good as stock at times but better when the road gets ugly.

So after some more research and talking with Andrew at Redline, considering getting the AG 310 in 18/8/45 with the Pilot Super Sports in 225/40/18. May go with the H&R Sport Springs to lose the gap.

Welcome any more thoughts. Unfortunately wheels not in stock, so looking at taking delivery 3rd week of March or so if I do go with this set up.

Looks good. I would like just a touch more drop without running into rubbing, if possible. I am now looking at the H&R cupkit also to avoid replacing the shocks anytime soon (with just a spring install). Glad to hear that you like the ride.

Yeah I had the h&r cup kit installed. They make a cup kit with a 2 inch drop vs the 1.5 that used.

I myself would prefer to have a set up that is adjustable. What may seem low enough today may not be low enough a month from now. I have learned the hard way that it a good idea to leave yourself some room to work with. That's just me though.
