Was looking at the TTRS in my work parking lot thinking about what parts on that car might be worth bolting onto an R... First thing that struck me were the brakes. Dual piston calipers and they also look 14"-ish. Guissing like before the caliper carrier would just bolt on? Or is it a completely different hub at this point. Just wondering.

    My thoughts exactly.

Those two-piece floating rotors with aluminum hats would certainly save some weight too.

Wonder how we can find out?

Most likely cost a pretty penny upgrading to OEM Audi stuff.... Plenty of options out there for half the money.

True. I've been checking out racingbrake.com for their 2-piece rotors, looks like quality stuff (I've had their 1-piecers on a previous car). And then a Wilwood 4-piston caliper kit (for stock rotors, or in this case, the stock sized two-piece from RB).

Rotors are ~$950, Caliper kit about $810 on ebay right now. Total=$1760.

Not cheap, but some pretty serious weight savings (about 12 lbs. a corner by my estimate).

Unrelated, but where are you from? Noticed your sig says that you have an R DSG coming.

Funny, I missed the DSG R part, but assumed he was European (or from anywhere but North America I guess) based on the '99 Elise in his garage

I had TTRS brakes. The rotors are rubbish. I recommend you get the following from TTRS:

    - calipers + TAROX 2-piece rotors for TTRS (they are bolt on to R)
    - lower arms (you can get a negative camber up to -2.7)

    I'll be back

    TEFF,

Thanks for chiming in! I did check out your thread, but must have missed the part about TT-RS brakes.

So it sounds like they do bolt right up? Calipers and everything?

Yes, they are bolt one, but just like i said, don't get the OEM rotors. Get the TAROX 2-piece rotors for TTRS

Up to -2.7? Are you saying the TT RS lower arms are adjustable?

i want to put a whole bunch of TTRS parts into my golf and call it GOLF RS !!

I wonder what type of work does it require to get the 5 cyl in there...

I think golf and ttrs have same drivetrain and suspension components.. maybe? looks like it...

The 2.5RS engine will fit perfectly in the R's engine bay. VW did a rally Golf R with TTRS engine. But if you want to change the engine, you would need a new ECU and so many parts.
Other option would be to get a BT kit into the R

Mind if I asked how much you put into the car? looks like enough to get the TTRS and then some.

Not the point really. And iirc the R is stupid rare in Romania, so I can imagine the TTRS is as well.

Thank you very much, i don't like to speak about how much i invested in car. Sorry

In Romania we have 10 R's, and about 4-5 TTRS.

And allow you to put non-vegetarian (a.k.a, beefier) wheels and tires on the car.
