Thread: 2012 Audi S5 'vert

  1. 02-23-2012 12:21 PM #1
Spotted this while grabbing lunch today. If you can't read the window sticker, they're asking $64k. It was equiped with the "V6T" motor and had the 7spd automatic. Not usually a convertible person, but this thing looks like it would be blast with the top down (and in manual).

Can you even get the Cab with a manual?

No, neither the A5 or S5 cab offers a manual transmission. In the S5, it is a 7 speed dual clutch automatic (S Tronic), and the A5 cab offers only an 8 speed automatic (TipTronic) transmission.

Both are great automobiles and offer the largest trunk, the only AWD available drivetrain in the segment, and great looks.

It's not bad, especially with the sports rear differential. It's definitely more of a cruiser/GT than an M3 though. It's really heavy for what it is.

Hello there sir, I see your S5 thread, and I counter with a sweeping generalization about the brand as a whole.
Latest Article: Historically Accurate. Apparently Wildly Inappropriate.

Touché. I'm sure the R8 feels great. As does the old RS4. But much of the rest of the line looks more exciting then they feel. Anyway, nice 'vert.

    53/47 is terrible?

Soft tops offer many advantages, you can open/close the S5's top at 30 mph. Try that with a hard top. Noise and comfort is equal.

Caymans are for those who wish they could afford 911's.

What Audi did you drive to make you say that?

You say that as if it's wrong not to be able to afford a 911, then settling for something less expensive but still exciting. I'll tell you one thing, when I can afford a Cayman, I'll get one, because I'll never be able to afford a 911.

Maybe I don't get this understated mad-euro handsomeness of Audi... but that S5 Vert looks just so bland and boring.

Those wouldn't be the words that'd come to mind if one was pulling up behind you. They look pretty sinister with the LED DRLs.

LOL, sinister? They remind me of these:
