What's going on guys. Iv'e got 2 questions i wouldnt mind having answered.
The First of which being:
1. Does anyone have an MKV with either one of these pair's of headlights? Because iv'e scoped the forums and all iv'e seen are those ****ty wanna-be audi lights and the Bi-xenon us spec lights from ECS tuning.>>
2. Secondly what are some opinions of these headlights? Cause while im perfectly content with having Bi-Xenon's on my car im definitely not dishing out 1200 for them unless i have to.
*New to the forums btw....so hello to everyone*

Well yeah sure. But i like second opinions and this being a VW forum what better place to get advice eh? Btw i found another pair to that i havent seen anyone with.
Anyone rocking these or any of the other two?

not a fan of those but the ones that x-quiz-it posted are nicer

I banged up my Honda Prelude, and to keep repairs cheaper I went w/ similar style headlights.
They sucked. Lighting was garbage, they fogged up, oxidized, etc.
Overall I hated them, and should have just went OEM.
Keep your stock lights until you can upgrade to the GTI HID's if thats what you want.
#6
Well let me ask this...are you able to replace the turn signal markers in the GTI HID's with HID's or do they already come like this? Does it even look good like that? Idk....im just wanting to differentiate myself from the rest of the pack and coming from what iv'e seen there aren't to many decent looking headlights. These however i figured id give a shot but iv'e never actually seen any of them on the car so i felt as if i'd be shooting in the dark just buying one of them.
http://www.carid.com/2008-volkswagen-jetta-headlights/ This is the site that iv'e been looking it just in case anyone was wondering. Pretty reliable site but the inventory for MKV parts is kind of lacking as opposed to other sites such as ECS Tuning.

I have these in my garage. I got them for Christmas, but I put my OEM halogens back in. They are really bad quality, and don't use OEM H7 bulbs, they use H1 bulbs. Light output is terrible, and it is really hard to adjust them, so they were blinding everyone.
I'll get the few pics I have up in a bit if you want.
But, if you want mine, I'll sell them to you for cheap![]()

Sounds like that's the main problem with a lot of the lights for this car nowadays....Just flat out craptastic quality. So essentially im assuming we could all agree to agree that the Bi-Xenon's are the best thing to happen to the Jetta Headlight wise since sliced bread?

Iv'e seen those before and iv'e heard(or rather iv'e read) that they aren't of very good quality either. Do you have to use the stock bulbs with that also or can you use HID's without drilling? Because iv'e seen a photo of someone with these on a black MKV but he drilled holes into the side of the angel eyes and put HID's inside the housing.

bahhh those are ugly
lets just put a bunch of leds in the light in random places

Iv'e seen HID's for the turn signals on youtube and im pretty sure there on ECS tuning.....i think. I personally like it. Im not exactly great at sticking to the norm and clearly the norm is putting Bi-Xenon's on your jetta....there's actually a golf outside next to my jetta with those same headlights...just put em in to. I believe he said they cost him a pretty penny.

You get what you pay for, and also there is a good reason why you see people running nothing but OEM headlights on here!
But hey, at the end of the day it's your car and do whatever is going to make you happy! Just a little constructive criticism.![]()

Well as i said before i dont really have a problem with them...i dont mind them at all. In all seriousness after i come back from my deployment i'll probably just drop the money to buy them. I just thought id explore other options because iv'e never seen any pictures of an MKV with these sets of headlights.

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/T...-LED/tc122445/ My mistake....i meant LED's. Evidenced by this ****ty website i found not necessarily having anything to do with a VW. Thank you for pointing that out sir.
Moving on....so besides Bi-Xenon's are there any other decent headlights floating around?

Yeah..but the main reason i want to replace my headlights is because the previous owner of my jetta left the sticker on the headlight and never took it off. The heat from the headlights melted this sticker over time so now its just baked on there. It's hardly noticeable after all this time but up close and personal you know it's there and its really making meeverytime i walk past the front of my car.
And yes i know about headlight restoration kits. No need to remind me![]()

I have the headlights that X-QUIZ-IT posted up, and i ended up replacing them after 1.5-2yrs of use. Kept the car washed, waxed..etc... and they have stress cracks throughout the lenses. Secondly after about the 1st year this clear coat that they sprayed the headlights with started peeling off and it was hideous... Had to restore the lenses on the front with 3m Kit.
This brought it back to new again, but still after 6 months it was back to yellow and ugly... Secondly the cut off pattern is terrible and has bad flare on the right side. Lastly the rubber caps are falling apart and cracking on the edges.
I'm actually going to do a project with these headlights and put a custom cut off shield and put larger LED's in the strip at the bottom, junk the halo's and completely re-do the headlights altogether. Reseal the headlights properly so they won't fade and i actually might use them again.
currently i'm using Hella OEM Look w/ e46 projector upgrade w/ D2S bulbs/ballasts (Morimoto). This is the best i've seen so far.
Anyway some pictures....

I assume you wouldn't be happy just replacing your damaged headlight(s) with new stock halogen reflector lights?
If that's the case, and you don't want to drop the money and effort into installing stock bi-xenons (you'd have to replace the CECM too, to get full functionality), I think a happy medium might be the Hella halogen projectors offered by ECS Tuning for about $470 (hey, you're going to have all thet money you've saved during your deployment!):
http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...lights/ES6476/
They're Hella, sold on the European market -- so you know the quality is good. And the light quality would be much better than your reflectors.
I'm considering doing the same thing... See my thread here:
