A few weeks ago I bought a 97 GTI off of RemmyGLI and sold my 07 Rabbit. I am back in school and didn't want the car payments. I love the MKIII so far and look forward to see where than project goes. Thanks to all the MKV scene for all the help answering any questions I had, and looking forward to getting to know the MKIII scene.

    Pics of course.

Thanks! Blair seems like a really chill guy. Made the deal extremely smooth. I'm really happy with it. I don't have anything really major I want (or need) to do with it. I'm gonna lay down some sound deadeners while I have all the interior pulled, reinforce the oil pan, and some other small things for now. Not sure what else. Open for ideas!

Got a new cap for my shift knob. Clear coating it for a smooth, high gloss finish. Pretty happy with how its turning out.

The cap that was on the knob had come off and most of the paint from it was gone so it looked kinda crappy. If it was in good condition I would've left it. Thought this would be kinda fun. It looks pretty good in person.

Before you do anything, clean the parts really well with windex or a degreaser. After cleaning, spray on the adhesion promoter. I used DupiColor adhesion promoter (2 cans total). Pep-Boys sells it. Three light coats leaving five min or so in between coats. After the last coat wait ten min or so the did three to five coats of SEM gloss black dye (3-4 cans total), leaving five to ten min in-between coats. The adhesion promoter is key.

Not that this is RACECAR, but how much extra weight does all that deadening material add?

Vouch, that stuff is worth it's weight in gold. Two years and my painted dash and panels still haven't chipped.

The RAAmat is really light. I had never used it before, but read good reviews. It is almost a foam material. I haven't had it on the road yet to tell you how well it works, but for all that I used I bet it only weighs 5 lb or so. The dynamat is a little heavier. Maybe 12 lb.

Good to know! I was skeptical about trying it at first, but others have said similar things about it. Hopefully it holds up

So not too happy with the shop who is doing my headliner.... Apparently they can't get the proper red suede.. they have ordered two kinds and neither will work, so it looks like the rear shelf and headliner will be done in black suede. Should have it by next week.
