A local suburb of Dayton, Ohio used to run mid-80's Volvos, in the mid-80's of course. Dad got a ticket on I-75 in Kentucky after blowing by a Statie in the middle lane in a 5.0 Fox-body ~ 1990. He let dad pop the hood and check it out for a bit too. Yes, he still got a ticket. Statie said he respected dad's gearheadedness, but 83 in a 55 was a bit too much.
A list of mods, all cars ever owned and something cribbed from a book, song and/or movie were all just here. Sorry you missed out on my unique, snowflake-like individuality.

I love cars, but the problem is they are like schroedinger's hobby. They're always in a quantum superstate of being both awesome and a huge waste of time and money... until observation momentarily forces them into one state or another.

You can't beat Michigan for the most LOL-worthy of all police car setups ... their Smokey and the Bandit style gumdrops are just too funny to look at in person.

I wouldn't say a v6 Mustang is cool per say, but I'm sure it's somewhat uncommon.

V6 Mustang, the Impala to the right dates it as a bit of an older car. The beauty rings and no caps give it a meaner cop car look. I guess traffic enforcement does not need that powerful of an engine as I recall they had about 140 HP at that time or a big back seat for hauling away criminals so, not really a bad choice at all. Could it of been a seized car or? Interesting post.

I see one of these on I-10 to and from work everyday, but I don't think it has the push bar upfront.

Story is that this is some sort of LEO in DC/MD/VA who can't really disclose it's use.

This picture was taken this past summer from my front porch, so obviously this mustang has been in service for quite a while. I'm pretty sure Baltimore city had a few of these, but I doubt there are too many left at this point. I was just surprised that they were still using a vehicle of its age, let alone a v6 mustang.

Ah..That's cool. It's the least they can do after Hilliard gave them that 10 year 100% tax abatement.

A month ago I was sitting at a red light when somebody ran a late yellow, and one of these exploded with interior lights and took off from the left turn lane, siren screaming. Totally stealth--I had no idea they made pursuit mom cars:

IIRC several years ago there was a badass modified WRX STI that california highway patrol impounded and was using.

Can't find the picture of it though

Why in the hell does OHP need a boat like this.. there might be 2% of all of Oklahoma where this would be usable and I'm pretty sure those areas are NOT highways.

I'm kinda baffled that there doesn't seem to be that much about regulated colors or anything.

If i'd see a green car with cartoons on it, trying to get me pull over, I'd probably think there's some drug-crazed maniac trying to kill me

and "Canine" would probably be more explanatory universally than K-9

"-Hmm, caution K9, wonder what's behind this door.." and boom, there's a german sheperd ripping your face off

I'm sure these will become more common in the coming year, but right now they aren't very common and are definitely cool...AND I get to drive them before police departments do (These were taken with my iPhone)

Usually. My great-uncle was a Sheriff in Ohio for 40 years. In the early 70s, he seized a 69 442 from a guy hauling weed through his County. He had lights installed in the rear window and grille, and a spotlight put on the A pillar. He drove that thing for years as his patrol vehicle...

They have messages on them for people to read. I think this practice is, uh, no longer in practice. I saw none of them in Japan when I was there last in 08.
