I dunno. K-9 has been around since WW2, at least, so most people should know what it means, or be able to, er, sound it out. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of people out there who don't even know what "canine" means...and "Canine" would probably be more explanatory universally than K-9

They actually had numerous Volvos throughout the years. After the Volvos, they switched to Pontiac Bonneville SSEI's. That's nothing too extreme, of course. Just never really did see those use for cruisers anywhere else.
Supposedly, it was a seizure. The guy kept running from them and they lost him several times before ultimately catching him. The 5.0 was highly tuned, and they just converted it to police duty.
