As the title states, I'm curious.
If you had $15,000 to spend on a car and mods, what would you do?

Mustang 5.0. With the rate at which people are unloading these cars I'm sure it won't be long before you can get one for $15k.

I had $15k to spend last June and bought a 2008 VW GTI with 24k miles for 14,198.00 . I was leasing it and couldn't find anything better 2008 or newer to buy, car has had no problems and has multiple warranty extensions on engine components and DSG for 10 years. Great deal.

I bought a nearly stock, one owner, '06 WRX with 64k for $14000 and spent $1000 on a used Cobb AccessPort and turbo-back exhaust.
Maybe not the fastest or best handling option but its a nice, quick, versatile daily and I love it.

Since my wife and I both have practical daily drivers, I'd probably find a nice S2000 and have my "fun" car.

I was in this exact position a few months back and I bought my MKIV R32, which is what led me to the vortex. I needed a daily driver and wanted something fun to drive and practical. Pretty happy with it.

I would replace my '98 LWB E38 with an '01 SWB Sport model E38 or '01 750 E38 and have cash left over for upgrades.

I love cars, but the problem is they are like schroedinger's hobby. They're always in a quantum superstate of being both awesome and a huge waste of time and money... until observation momentarily forces them into one state or another.
