"This appears to be an uninitialized control module" - but I've made coding changes to this module before!?!?

I got this message when making a small change to the central electronics module. However, I have made changes to this module before, and therefore didn't want to go ahead and have it replace the values. Also, in my scan, it appears that these fields are NOT uninitialized, as they do have values!

Why am I getting this warning? I didn't have it before when I made changes to this control module, so why am I getting it now?

I have disconnected the battery recently for a steering wheel install, could this be related?

This is probably the first time I've made changes to this controller since upgrading to VCDS version 11.11.1 . Could that have anything to do with it?

The error in the Engine module is likely from the battery disconnecting, I'm going to erase that one and just see if it comes back. I'm also going to erase the sound system code, since it hasn't happened in 2 months, and see if it comes back also.

You're getting that message because the Importer Number in that module is '000', which would be unacceptable (or "uninitialized") to *some* modules.

11.11 does indeed produce a warning for this, because it got real old explaining why various modules were rejecting codings when one or more of those fields (WSC, Importer Number, or Equipment Number) were left with nothing but 0's in them. You should have 3 choices at that point:

[Yes] to put in some default values
[No] to leave everything as is
[Cancel] to manually edit the values

Since you know for a fact that this module doesn't object to the 000 in the Importer Number field, you can click [No] and VCDS will try to make the coding change with the existing WSC/Importer/Equipment combination/
