Considering these artists were on TRL at the time, its not a suprise there was a bunch of ppl who enjoyed this stuff... just good marketing

Does anyone remember when Limp Bizkit was winding down in fame and people were basically sick of him? Well, someone went to a concert and nailed Fred Durst perfectly in the nuts with a lemon while he was on stage. Ironic that they likely paid for a ticket putting money in the same pants that contained the junk later hit with a lemon.

I can't find the pic so here's Fred Durst pointing toward his crotch.

And a drawing of a lemon.

I'm pretty sure he stopped the Big Dumb Face thing... which I am happy about, because it was pretty bad. After that I know he went on to form a band called Black Light Burns, where he was actually the frontman who actually sang. It wasn't bad, but just not what I was hoping it would sound like.

To me (and being a guitarist I am a little biased here), Wes made the band. He is really an incredible guitarist...and a very strange and artistic guy. I absolutely loved LB when they first came out in 97-98. I've enjoyed everything after that for the most part, but I definitely started to slip away toward the end. When Wes left the band, I stopped caring.

So in the end, if Wes Borland is not in the band, I will listen to what they have to offer...but I will more than likely not care too much.

A local radio station does a "fresh tracks" thing every week where you get to rate a new single just released. They did one for a new Limp Bizkit song last year, and that terrible sample was fortunately the first and last I heard it. It was probably never played on air.

Yeah, our local hard rock station has "The Hummer of the Week". When the Metallica/Lou Reed song came out, they played it once as the hummer and got so much bad feedback they played a bunch of calls on the air and never played the track again.

    It's like I'm talking to my anti-self.

God, I just remember hating both of those bands so much as a young teen. Always thought they were both terrible. I was all about post hardcore bands like At The Drive-in back then.

There was an ICP before there was a Limp Bizkit . LB was a precursor to Crazy Town and all the other neck tattoo rap rock.

Barry made a sarcastic comment about the forums being a democracy. To make a point, Bill locked the thread because, this isn't a democracy.

If the mods don't like something they have the authority to shut it down. People who talk sh*t to mods then cry foul when they suffer consequences are retarded.

If a mod doesn't like you, it's well within his ability to ban you.

so why didn't mods warn/ban people they didn't like instead of locking a thread we were all a part of?

it doesn't matter that he started the thread, a lot of people posted in it, it was also their thread

    My thoughts:

Limp Bizkit was gimmicky, but fun. In that Break Stuff video, if Dr. Dre, Snoop, and Eminem are in it, they also probably thought it was fun too. I don't think anyone expected this stuff to stick around, all that late 90's early 2000's techno rap rock stuff. But I loved Korn and Limp Bizkit when i was 14. Thought it was the COOLEST thing out there. And actually bought COMPACT DISCS! WOW! The gimmick worked on me and my friends.

And that genre was no more gimmicky than all this post-punk metal-core stuff like Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack, A Skylit Drive, ect. Different times calls for different marketing, and if you have a guitar in your music video, you aren't going to be top 10 any more. So that's why those bands aren't top 10 like Korn and LB were. But they draw in huge crowds on tour consistently.

In 10 years for now, people in their mid 20's are going to be laughing at all this dubstep/brostep stuff too. Gimmicks are fun while they last.

I for one am curious about how this new LB is going to sound. And I'll probably check it out.

Limp Bizkit is the same as Tool, Douchesturbed, SleepNot, Dogsmack, and all the other nu-metal garbage. This music highlights the bad decisions you made in life minus the neck tattoo.

I still cannot fathom how you could lump Tool in with the rest of these worthless bands. Just because they get played on the same ****ty radio stations doesn't mean they're the same genre of music.

So don't fathom it. Radio stations know their demographics through sales research. It's not rocket science.

Only admins have the power to ban. Mods can ask for it, but must provide a reason with proof of breaking the big rules.
Mods can only lock and edit threads in the forums they are assigned to. Anything beyond that, and they are powerless.

This is not entirely true, as you can't lock a thread if you're not a moderator of that forum; if you look at the bottom of each forum it delineates who moderates that particular forum. However, if you have said/done/posted something that is bending, or downright breaking, the rules, but a moderator is not an overseer of that forum (as in the case of me not being a moderator of this forum), we can send IMs to those that are moderators so they can investigate it, and take the appropriate action.

Moderators don't have banning power but they definitely have influence to those that do, but we all have bosses as well, and I've seen moderators get "demodded" because they abused their powers, so we're not above the law.

I stand corrected. Either way, certain members here have a childish way about them and the way they post. Constantly prodding at the "line" between acceptable and unacceptable. Just something I've noticed and roll my eyes at.

I didn't post to "correct" you, so please don't take it as that, but thank you for your civil reply. You are absolutely correct though, you can go to (almost) any given forum on any given day and just go when you read through some of the threads (and their responses) in the forum.

...and I wasn't trying to pick on you TDE, I have no personal vendetta against anyone on here at all, I rather like OT, it's interesting to watch people healthily debate each other on the finer (and not so finer) points of life, and how they view/live/love it...
