Me want to see new twin turbo diesel on the US passat...But why do I get the feeling that that is at least two - three years away, it at all....

GTD to 180 hp, GTI to 220hp , but with Audi ValveLift so a bigger bump in torque, Golf R to 290hp...and, possibly a Golf RS using the turbo 5 and putting out 370hp or so. This according to the German motor press this week.

so far i prefer the MKVI, but these are all renderings so who knows what it will really look like.

it'll be a nice progressive design, imo best change will the lower roof/windshield angle making the car less "bubbly"

I don't care what it looks like if VW delivers on 150lbs lighter, 230HP and a mechanical LSD for roughly the same cost as a MK6.
Besides VW/Audi hasn't had many ugly cars in their portfolio so I am not concerned.![]()

I'm looking forward to this now that I've secured myself a job after college.

Well that would be disappointing. With a screen that large, they may feel inclined to move more functionality to it. If there is one thing I know about touch screens, it is that they are freaking terrible in the winterOn the inside, an 8 inch iPad-style dashboard touchscreen will come standard along with some other high-tech goodies.![]()

my only complaint is the wheels. I've had enough of the detroits, its time for something fresh

Old video, but I haven't seen it posted yet. You can get a better idea of the styling in the moving shots.
Btw I don't get all the MK3 love in this thread. I always thought the MK4 was pretty much a flawless work of art that you can't really improve upon anymore.

I like it quite a lot. I might be interpreting the images incorrectly, but from what I can see it looks like it has that same design theme from the current GLI and the Cross Coupe where the lines from the grill go straight into matching lines within the headlights. If you look closely, it looks like they painted the signature red GTI stripes in the grill black (to hide them), and that these painted black lines match up exactly with similar lines in the headlights. I also see LED tails, which should please some of those that have been clamoring for them.
There's too much body cladding and camo to tell much else, but it's the usual slow striptease they like to pull on us.![]()
There’s more to it than that, though. I feel the fast Golf is a part of me. We’ve grown up together. When it came along, all simple and full of fun, I was living in a flat in London. Now it’s soft and luxurious and I’m slouched in a house in the Cotswolds. It’s like 1970s rock music. New stuff comes along which I’m sure is cleaner and better produced but it doesn’t have the heart and soul of the original.

These are euro spec cars,of course they are going to have led tail lights. The golf that will debut in Paris this sept will also have led tail lights. US spec cars as always will be heavily watered down in some form

Hopefully that box & dots above & around the rearview mirror signify a return of the rain sensing windshield wipers & auto lights. Either way, there's clearly a lot more going on with that mirror than just the tacked on piece of glass that recent GTI's have sported. Yes, I realize everything can be decontented for the US...but I'm hopeful.
Radar cruise-control would be in the grill, presumably, not mounted up that high. Right?
#62
That's likely the camera for the rumoured lane-keeping, adaptive cruise-control systems.

Headlights are similar to the MK5, directional is a strip at the bottom. I also see that they made an area to put the amber reflector, US version, in the headlight moving it out of the bumper which is a much needed design change.![]()

Am I blind? Where is the front caliper in this picture?:

The caliper is on the right side of the wheel. The spokes are covering the ends of the caliper so it looks just like the disc. See the next picture in the series. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/images/..._528112_25.jpg
