Any idea as to why the minute difference in wheel circumference would make the car drive as different as it did? Anyone like/hate my new rims?
I bought my car used for a good price, but the old tires were Kumho's and they didn't give much for grip, though they did last me quite a while. I replaced them with some Falkens but those wore out really fast since one of the rims was slightly bent (didnt rotate the bent rim to the front or else my car would vibrate wildly as I drove). Instead of getting new tires and rims first, I got a new haldex controller. Tires were worn all the way down to the metal mesh in the front, so I decided it was time for new rims and tires.
Ignore me. Look at the rims with the car.

Now, the old rims are Borbet. They were HEAVY and ended up getting scraped from a curb because some old bastard ran me off the side of the road. They were also 18" rims which DID have a noticeable affect on how the car drove. It would lurch much easier going into second and third gears. Wasn't very smooth at all. Also, after I got the haldex controller installed, if I was in first gear and made a slow, sharp turn the car would get confused where to put the power and it would kinda stop-and-go as you turned because the power wasn't constant.
The new rims are the stock 17" and they are Enkei Performance T Forks. The tires are Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions. The car doesn't make the same lurch and "clunk" when shifting into second or third, downshifting is much smoother, and when making a u-turn in first gear it's smooth and the power is not being volleyed between the front and rear wheels every .2 seconds. I've only driven a little over 100 miles on these new 225/45R-17 Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position XL tires, but they have more grip than the Falkens. I just pray they last longer than 10k miles.
Hmm, well aside from the fact that the rim was bent and tires were worn out?? I wouldnt know!
Personally, Those rims seem to grow on me the more I look at them, car looks nice! Definitely different in rim style, but different isnt always bad!
So to sum it up, I like em!
And of course, before someone else says it, youll love the look even more when/if youre planning on dropping it! TT deffintily looks a lot more natural dropped. Should have come out of the factory that way!

I've still got factory suspension. I actually just did the recall (skipped the spoiler) for the suspension about 6 months ago but I havent even put 5k on the car since then. I'm not worried about my CVs going out because I got Raxels and they have a lifetime warranty no matter WHAT you do to your car
Can I drop it myself? My grandfather has a barn I helped him build full of any kind of tool that's available.

Yeah, the old suspension was starting to wear out (after 11 years of use). I did the recall to get the FREE NEW suspension because I was strapped for cash at the time and the old was going out anyway. Bought me FREE TIME
I'd like to get coil overs, but I dont know who to buy. I know a lot about how a car works and basic/advanced mechanics, but I dont know about parts most of the time.
Did they replace your front control arms? If so and they were pre recall then you messed up. The pre recall arms were better handling
H&R's for everyday use and long term reliability. Mine lasted over 100k
Your going to also want to get rear control arms at the same time to correct rear camber and toe to allow good tire life (Falkens last me around 20k, on Hankooks at the moment with some track days and 10,000 miles on them and still over 50% tread)
I suggest CPT or MadMaxx arms for the rear. MCPi front control arm bushings are a nice upgrade when doing the front arms with R32 rear bushings.
