Mostly in the sense of six degrees of separation - not bragging rights.

Several recent threads made me think about this. Going back three generations, I come from a fairly mundane, average, mostly agricultural background - typical for Central Europe. The transition to industrialization and more people moving to cities changed things - so I have a grand-aunt who owned a baking company, a great-uncle who owned a camera shop, a grandfather who owned and ran a dairy, a great-uncle who was a school principal, and there were more than a couple of priests and teachers.

girlfriend #1: her grandfather was a famous musical instrument theoretician, her uncle a supreme court judge.

girlfriend #2: her grandfather was prosecuted for being an influential union leader. And for being a Jew.

girlfriend #3: she hung out with the Scorpions, and eight miles high later left me for a Golden Earring guy...

girlfriend #4: she was assistant to a #1 organ transplant surgeon

girlfriend #5: I still love her to death

girlfriend #6: her grandfather was a famous philosopher

girlfriend #7: nude, she would have easily won sexiest woman alive in pan-regional contests

girlfriend #8: father developed some of the first manned space flight instruments

    2. 02-25-2012 08:02 AM #2
Girlfriend #1 could fit a coke can in her vagina

Girlfriend #2 used to burp the alphabet backwards

Girlfriend #3 cussed more than me

Girlfriend #4 was a virgin when I met her...and still a virgin when she went off to college. A week later she wasn't a virgin anymore. I missed that boat

Girlfriend #5 was 39 when I was 19 (Not really a girlfriend but let's not argue semantics)

Girlfriend #6 married me and is now 8.5 months carrying my first child. She's by far the greatest woman I've ever met. Smart, funny, as sweet as they come and loves me despite all the crap I give her.

If you google my dad, he's the first one to show up.

My wife's dad won a case against his former employer, United Airways, and was supposed to get a six figure sum. But they went bankrupt.

My wife has a sweet goat voice. She can sing like this and it cracks me up!

My wife's brother is not in the nut house, even though he was, and currently should be.

We both went to school with the guys from the camp kill yourself videos. They later went on to bigger and better things.

my wife's great grandparents family used to be part of the jack daniels distillery. They were related somehow and they sold off their portion and went broke. Too bad they did not hang on to it. I probably would not be working right now.

Or, had they held onto it, you wouldn't have met your wife.

Not significant but my 1 and only GF's (who later became my wife) great grandmother was an Australian mail-order bride.

Now my grandfathers side... That is slightly different.

BTW, #2 and #8 date me too, unless I was into cougars.

Point was that... they fought in WWII for Germany?

I think being related to a WWII veteran is a little unique... and we over here sure don't hear of too many cases of people being related to someone who fought for the other side.

As for me. I really can't think of anything crazy I was told by anyone I have dated.

    33. 02-26-2012 01:30 AM #33
Dated a girl who was an American Apparel model, ended up doing some Victorias Secret work.

      Stripper turned pornstar.

Dated a girl whose grandfather played for the Chicago Cubs

Dated a girl whose father owns a very known industrial park in NJ.

Messed around with a family member related to Bon Jovi

Messed around with a member of Jersey Shore. She is well known for having gotten around before the show, I was with her awhile back and am still friends with her to this day.

And no, I won't give any names.
