    Hello Dana,

I have searched for a fix/work-around for this issue without success. A couple suggestions include having the doors unlocked from inside the car; however I still get the error msg "Cannot communicate with controller" when I select the module. What else can I try? Also, I DO NOT see the module listed in an auto-scan:

There is a very simple reason for this. 4B-Chassis cars don't have an 09-Central Electric Control Module!

Oh, I wasn't aware of that other than the CAN BUS limitations. Thanks Uwe. So, how does one tweak settings like fogs as DRL, etc. Does an ECM firmware upgrade help?

    Thanks.

Those components are not controlled via any control module, so it can not be done with VCDS.

Perhaps you misunderstood me / my question. How else do you modify (via long coding) settings. I am aware, with the module available in your vehicle , you can do that via VCDS.

You can not do it with VCDS,it is not possible on that car.
Only way to do this is to run 12V to fog lights form DRL .

.....or rewire fuse #36 (for fogs) to a "switched source /fuse" e.g. fuse #27 (rear wiper/heated steering in the A6) so it is independent of the low beams . I have seen a couple DIYs for this (though it won't work for an Avant - for obvious reasons). Thanks.
