Can anyone tell me how to reset the service light on the dash? I am past the 30,000 mile service thing and I don't fell like paying 500 for an oil change. I already changed the oil and filter, just wanting to know how to reset the light. If I can't reset the light, who should be able to?

      1) On a TDI I hope you used 507.00 oil, it's a special blend for the diesels, anything else will cause issues later. The oil is about $8-10ltr.

      2) You need a tool, Ross-Tech's VCDS/VagCom is the most common one out there, there is no button sequence you can press/hold to reset the light.

On the instrument cluster, you will see two buttons, one on each side. With the key off, reach in and press/hold the button on the right, keep holding while you turn the key to "on", release that button and press the one on the left.

      Another post had the following:

With the car off, press and hold the "0.0" trip reset button at the bottom right of the instrument cluster.

Insert the key and turn it to "ON" but don't start the engine.

Let go of the "0.0" trip reset button.

It should still say "Service Now". Press the button for adjusting the clock minute, "M" on the bottom left side of the instrument panel. If that doesn't work, hold the trip reset button while pressing the clock minute button.

Thanks, I wil try that, and yes I did use that 507.00 stuff.

This is why I love this site. I litterally logged on to look for the same solution to this problem as I just changed my own oil lastnight and had no clue how to get that service light off.
